Kerala Backwaters

Departure to Vaikom: At 8:30 am, embark on a one-hour drive in an air-conditioned car to the backwater village known as Vaikom. Backwater Village Experience: Upon reaching the village, enjoy a two-and-a-half-hour cruise on a non-motorized punting houseboat. Indulge in a delicious vegetarian lunch served in the village on banana leaves. An English-speaking guide will elaborate on village activities, showcasing rope making from coconut fiber, mat weaving, and various spice plants. Canoe Boat Ride and Tea Session: Post-lunch, experience a one-hour canoe boat ride. Relax and enjoy a tea session during the boat ride. Return to Cochin: After the activities, we will drive back to Cochin. Tour Conclusion: The tour concludes at 4:30 pm in Cochin.

Environmental friendly trip, experience the local activities and get to meet the villagers. Don’t pollute the river with unnecessary big boat with AC. The guide is very friendly and experienced. The price value ratio is amazing. Will share with all of our friends.

It was lovely. Very relaxing. Guide was good, snacks and lunch were good. It was very hot in Cochin but okay in the shade of the larger covered boat and under the canopy of the smaller waterways.

A very well-organised, well -paced trip in Vaikom backwaters with a fantastic guide, Meera. You will experience the punting boat on the river combined with local crafts demonstration, a local specialty (Sadhya) for lunch, followed by a canal trip on a canoe boat ending at a spice farm. A perfect blend of informative, restful, and authentic. All of it only half a distance of Allepey from Fort Kochi, which means you do spend more time on the water than in the car.

Meera, our tour guide, was very friendly and provided us with much interesting information about the flora and fauna along the river, as well as the local economy of the surrounding villages. The lunch was delicious, too! Be sure to have decent balance due to needing to walk along a slab of wood to depart the boat occasionally. Assistance is offered by staff, though, as needed.

It was a completely successful tour. Friendly staff, interesting spots, and especially the great Meera, such a guide you always wish for. It should be emphasized that the boats are only moved with menpower, great environmental protection. And there are only a few on the road, all very quiet and peaceful.

We were picked up by Meera who was a very pleasant host and very knowledgeable. We had a good meal and rope making extortion laid on. I now realise i could in fact have done this tour from Alleppey better. Still it was a good day out and Meera gave us some good tips for the evening out too.

Very informative with helpful tour guides and beautiful scenery. The lunch was also very nice with a variety to select from. Finished with a nice tea.
