5.00Such a good time! Me and 2 friends met up in York for the weekend. We love a ghost tour wherever we visit. This one was so good the right mix of novelty, humour and great story telling.

2.00I love immersive theatre. Really love it. But this "tour" was awful. Frank Stein (lol? No.) was our tour guide and his schtick mostly involved him talking quietly and then SHOUTING IN PEOPLE'S FACES, or the camera on the bus. We got off the bus once and were told a couple of ghost stories about the Golden Fleece which wouldn't have been out of place in an episode of Goosebumps, but with worse acting. I felt sorry for the driver, Bob, who had to mug along with the dire script when the bus "broke down". Apparently, saying "poo poo" and "wee wee" a lot passes for entertainment. At one point, Frank got off the bus and talked to us with a microphone from outside. No idea why we couldn't leave - perhaps he thought we'd make a run for it. Almost £20 for an hour of this nonsense. Billed as a comedy ghost tour, I expected comedy and some history. I got little of either. A real shame. Nice haze effect as you get on the bus, though.

5.00We were fortunate with the amazing weather on a bank holiday weekend last Friday and even more lucky to have the John Doe and Bob the driver duo. This Bob tells jokes and interacts with the passengers as well as being the driver. John Doe was hilarious and the tour was just the right balance of funny and spooky. Amazing audience participation and a bit of everything whilst also learning all about Yorkshire dark history and just why it’s classed as one of the most haunted cities in Europe.
