5.00I was in Salt Lake City for a conference and had a free afternoon. This adventure was a great way to get out of the city and experience nature. Got picked up directly from my downtown hotel and driven about 45 minutes to/from Antelope State Park. Amazing views of the Great Salt Lake and various wildlife. Our tour guide Travis was amazing! We all (small tour group of 5) got excited the first time we saw a few bison in the distance, and he said, "Just wait, this is nothing." And he was so right. We were close enough to bison to get some great pictures, and Travis made sure we stayed at a safe distance. At one point later in the day, we encountered the majority of the herd, with nearly 100 bison just a few feet from our tour van. He also knew where to find a great horned owl, some mule deer, and several bird species. The pronghorn eluded us this day, but not from lack of Travis' effort. We ended the day with hike up the Buffalo Point Trail to watch the sunset over the lake. A perfect end to a perfect day! Travis had binoculars for us to borrow all day and hiking poles for a safe trek up a moderate-difficulty trail. As an added bonus, Travis is a wildlife photographer and sent us all fantastic photos the next day from his professional quality camera, so much better than I was able to get with my cell phone. I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone who appreciates nature! Things to note: I wasn't prepared to get sand in my shoes / socks. We were trying to get a good look at a small group of bison on the beach. Maybe take an extra pair of shoes / socks. Also, the hike up Buffalo Point Trail is great for young people and those who are used to hiking. It is definitely a cardio workout, and the descent was challenging with a surgically repaired (and recently reinjured) knee. I have no regrets and would absolutely do it again, but individuals with mobility limitations might need to skip the trail and stay down at the parking lot for that portion of the tour.

5.00It was one of the best experiences I had! Such a gorgeous place with incredible energy. We could see bison and deer. And the hiking at sunset was a masterpiece. Also, I would like to extend a special thanks to our tour guide, Amalia, who was incredible! She has SO MUCH knowledge about the area and the history of Salt Lake City, and is also a great person to talk to!

2.00There just wasn’t much to the island itself. We did see a few bison but there wasn’t anything else to see. The guide was nice but you couldn’t walk to beach it was too far from parking lot

5.00Make time to find a parking garage, this sight does NOT tell you where to park. It would be super helpful if the offsite travel agent gave this advice

3.00The tour itself was wonderful, and the guide was incredibly kind and accommodating. However, I was very disappointed with TripAdvisor’s handling of my booking. The ticket I received listed the tour start time as 4:30 pm, which turned out to be incorrect. It appears the time was based on the time zone of the person who created the ticket rather than the local time of 1:30 pm. As a result, I was an hour away visiting another town when the guide called to ask if I was joining. Thankfully, the guide waited for me to drive back, since I was the only participant. But because we started over an hour late, I missed out on the hike, the part of the tour I was most looking forward to. While the tour was still enjoyable, it was incomplete due to the time error. I hope TripAdvisor will improve its booking process to prevent this sort of mix-up. Unfortunately, this experience has made me hesitant to book tours through TripAdvisor in the future.
