Our first stop is the remarkable Muallaqat al-Dayr, an ancient rock-cut columbarium rising more than seven meters high. Inside, you’ll see around 800 triangular niches carved across three levels — once used for breeding doves, an important economic activity in antiquity. A modern staircase makes access easy, and the short 5–10 minute climb rewards you with impressive views. You’ll receive a concise historical introduction along with guidance to the best photo spots.
Next, we visit the site known locally as Mugharat al-Kaniseh — the Cave of the Church. This Byzantine-era complex includes a large cave church (currently closed for ongoing excavations) and a second basilica built directly in front of it. The cave entrance is distinguished by a decorated façade featuring a pediment with carved crosses. Outside, the limestone-built church (21 x 10 meters) still reveals its apse and seating rows. The mosaic floor once displayed colourful tesserae and bore a Greek inscription translated as: “Jesus the Saviour, the First and the Last.”

5.00I wish we booked all our tours with Alex - always on time, very informative and ready to accommodate any and all our wishes. We valued the flexibility Alex offered and the additional attractions we visited. The caves were very interesting and a stop for tea in a cultural village was so relaxing. And of cause the palace, which we enjoyed so much! Highly recommend going on this tour with Alex.

5.00We had a partial day in Amman so wanted to book a half day tour. While previous reviews of Alex's tour were great, this tour far exceeded our expectations. Started off with seeing our ride-an immaculate white Tesla with white interior. Possibly my wife's next car after seeing Alex's! The tour wasn't four hours, it was five. Alex was in no hurry to get us back to the hotel which was great. The tours of the caves and Qasr al-Abd were extremely interesting and off the beaten path-no big tour buses to deal with. Just what we wanted. Alex was very pleasant and knowledgeable. We finished the tour at a Women's Co-Op for tea and coffee. They make all kinds of pottery here and we went into the shop and bought two pieces. Reasonable prices and the money goes to a good cause. All items made here, not elsewhere. Alex even arranged transportation for tonight to go the the Amman airport. Alex indicated he has over twenty different tours he can do. If we had more time in Jordan we would have booked more. This was a great ending to our 16 day trip to Jordan and Israel.

5.00If you are in Jordan, you must visit Hellenistic Palace and Ancient Caves. We book this tour with Alex and indeed did in in style. We learned so much about Hellenistic culture from Alex and visited some amazing ruins which we never thought existed in Jordan. I wish we had more time and gone to see more places. We highly recommend Alex for your day tours from Amman.

5.00After visiting Desert Castles with Alex we also booked a trip to Qasr Abd to see this beautiful greek palace, close to Amman. We actually saw several places on the way to the palace and loved them all. Very interesting tour and the palace is really magnificent with lion and leopard statues. I highly recommend this tour.

5.00Alex is a superb guide who has done extensive research in art and archeology. He really loves showing people these amazing sites and is great company.. I spent the whole day with him doing the ancient caves and Quasr-ai-Abd, both of which were fascinating and in stunning settings. Afterwards, he also drove me to see the gorgeous mosaics in Madaba and to photograph and sit by the magnificent Dead Sea, I highly recommend Alex's tours and will be signing up for other excursions with him in 2023.

5.00This tour is absolutely amazing and I have to recommend it to anyone who has even a little bit of time in Amman! I only had one full day to spend in Amman and I feel like this was the best way to spend it. I deeply enjoyed all of the unique and beautiful sites Alex showed me and I had an unforgettable experience. Alex, the tour guide, is very friendly and has a lot of insight on all of the hidden caves and coves around Amman. This is probably one of the most personable and fun tours I’ve ever been on, and I’m thankful to Alex for being such a great guide! Please do yourself a favor and take this tour!

5.00Excellent tour, very informative and enjoyable. Alex took us on Range Rover to the caves and castle as well as other places. The caves were very interesting to discover and the castle is truly amazing. We had coffee and the workshop and were dropped at the restaurant on the way back. Alex is very polite and flexible. I would highly recommend him for all tours in Jordan.
