Heeloya is a protected historic Kandyan region and one of the last remaining traditional nativities in Sri Lanka. This tranquil village is distinctively situated on the foothill of the spectacular Knuckles range and surrounded by dense montane cloud forests.

A beautiful walk around the hills with very knowledgeable guide Wijaya who explained about growing rice and many different spices and also pointed out birds, lizards and monkeys when we could see nothing!! The walk was up and down hills but he took great care to make sure we walked at the right pace for us. We finished in the village for a delicious meal. Who knew you could eat banana flower curry. This was an unforgettable experience. Grab this opportunity to experience truly unspoilt Sri Lanka at its best

Excellent experience on this hike with friends! The guides were very attentive and passionate, sharing a wealth of interesting information along the way. The food was delicious and perfectly complemented the activity. I highly recommend!

Quite adventurous tour, spiced up by heavy rain at times. Very good job by the tour guide, experienced and keeps the right pace. The tour is demanding but it is well worth while. Well off the beaten track. It is very hard to summarize the beauty of the whole journey...luxuriously green paddy fields, quaint villages, Buddhist monasteries, tropical plantations all over the steep hills, plenty of wild life, such as deer and colorful exotic birds, as one moves up...then comes the pristine rain forest of Knuckles, crisscrossed by water falls. This journey is not for the heart fainted though. Unlike other touristy sites i did not come across hoards of tourists...maybe a handful of hikers ...which was awesome.
