Al Masmak Fortress

Begin the tour outside Al Masmak Fortress, a building is foundational to the history of modern Saudi Arabia. Follow the story of the Royal Saudi Family and King Abdulaziz's recapture of this Fortress back in 1902. Come back here later if you want and we can follow King Abdulaziz’s footsteps through Al Masmak.

Head into Al Safat, a square established during Imam Turki bin Abdullah’s reign. It was redesigned during the first master plan for the new city of Riyadh. Despite this area being the oldest part of Riyadh, it actually underwent a lot of change! As the city plan went on, a lot of neighbourhoods opened up massively and ditched the traditional narrow streets and densely packed houses.

There was no experience. The Main site was closed for repairs (4 months actually). Never being able to access the “link”, received the same day. No way to contact. Ask for full refund.

Unfortunately I paid for this service and al masmak was closed 3 months ago as will the security told me that there’s no museum which I paid the money to visit

Interesting tour provided by the app Vidi Guide. Paid 12$ CAD in Feb 2024, would not pay more for it, but interesting to learn more about the area

Perfect explanations with good details It would have been nice to have the info that shops and souk open after 3pm. Doing the tour in the morning is thus rather boring and doesn't give your the real feeling of this part of the city

This was a perfect way to learn a bit about Saudi history and do it at your own pace! Short listening bits (5-8 minutes) and a clear map of where to go for each. Really easy and safe to walk between each point. Highly recommend! One note: don’t do it on Friday before 4pm as nothing is open.

It was my 2nd time in Riyadh and gave me a brilliant overview of the little old centre. I recommend not to do the tour before late afternoon as life does not start earlier. It was very easy to get around with that tour.
