Choose FlexiToursNZ for a premium tour. We put less seats in our vehicles than factory standard and only 3 seats in the back row. Pay a little more to be comfortable. This tour is more enjoyable if you are comfortable and not crushed up against other people on the vehicle. We keep the groups small with no more than 12 people on our vehicle, meaning our drivers can and will give you, personal service.

This tour starts later than most (at 11am) - with hotel pickups from 10:50 AM.

Hobbiton Movie Set
Afternoon tour - departs at 12:00 - Hotel pickups from 11:30. Travel to and from Hobbiton in a late model Mercedes Van with luxury fit-out and then join the 2 hour bus and walking tour of Hobbiton with a local guide. There are no meals included but you have time on arrival in Hobbiton buy and eat food before you go on tour

5.00Mike was very safe driver and was very informative. Long car ride, but did one each wave just a stretch our legs and the van was comfortable.. Once you’re there at Hobbiton, you take their tour bus, but everything was arranged, and it was a very smooth and the tour was excellent.

5.00Both of the drivers, to Hobbiton, and away from Hobbiton were very knowledgeable of the area and gave many fun facts along the way. They were very flexible on pickup and drop off points, and even got a phone call a few minutes before they would be showing up. The went above and beyond to give us a fun, entertaining, and educational ride to Hobbiton. Hobbition itself is magical. I am a big Lord of the Rings fan, so that’s easy for me to say, but others in our tour group hadn’t seen the movies, read the books, or knew anything about it, and they loved it just as much as I did. It is a beautiful countryside and the landscape and hobbit holes make you feel as though you are entering into the movies yourself. The walking tour guide (Joe) was phenomenal. You could tell that he truly loved giving the tours and sharing all of his knowledge with the group. 150% recommend this tour, start to finish!

5.00After our tour with another company to hobbiton was canceled the day before, we reached out to Flexitours. While they did not have space for our group, they went above and beyond in reaching out to Hobbiton directly and ensuring that we were able to secure a last minute spot with another company! Incredibly thankful for their kindness and ensuring I had a great birthday!

5.00Our driver (Ethan) was fantastic and shared so much interesting information on the way to Hobbiton. My daughter really enjoyed the ride and learned a lot during the trip. The tour guide at Hobbiton was also fun and knowledgeable. It was a wonderful experience for the whole family!

5.00The ride with Brett into Hobbiton was a wonderful part of the journey. An Auckland native, his life’s knowledge of New Zealand was fascinating. Hobbiton was everything one expected and more. Our guide, a native Māori, was informative and funny. She reallly knew everything about the history of the site and the movies. A North Island must!

5.00Philip was great. He tried to explain the local culture in Auckland and, more generally, in New Zealand. The Hobbit tour was excellent. After the tour, I plan to watch the movies again. However, the tour bus was a bit disappointing. It was not as deluxe as expected. Because of the road noise, much of what Philip talked about could only be heard with difficulty, even though he used a speaker that didn’t always work. Overall, I still enjoyed the trip.

5.00Michael picked us up from our hotel exactly on time. He was very friendly and had lots of interesting facts to share. The drive was absolutely beautiful and even though it rained the whole time Hobbiton provided unbrellla’s and it was still a fantastic experience. Bring a water proof jacket in case of weather as the tour is mostly outside. My only regret is that Michael generously offered to hold our hobbit souvenir brochure that came with the tickets and we forgot to ask for them when we were dropped off. But that is our mistake. Everything with the tour was wonderful. I would definitely recommend.
