Take a guided tour of the Hobbiton Movie Set and learn how this picturesque farmland was transformed into a living, breathing piece of Middle Earth. Your guide will show you Hobbit holes, the Green Dragon Inn, the Party Tree, the Mill, and many other structures from the movies. This is literally the best experience. It’s beautiful, and the guides are super knowledgeable. You are literally transported into Hobbiton. Definitely go for the lunch option the food was amazing, you will be pleasantly surprised. Make sure you book in advance though as it gets booked up really quick.

If you are a fan of the films, you’ll really enjoy being transported to The Shire. They have done a great job of engaging visitors in the fantasy experience. Our driver from Great Sights, Ngata, is a very outgoing, fun, light-hearted guide. Amazingly, he remembered everyone’s names! Our Hobbiton guide, James, likewise made the experience memorable. They both provided great information and were quick to answer any questions. Definitely worth the time and money!

It helps to have read the books or see the movies. One of the best parts was being able to go inside a Hobbit house.

It's exactly what it sounds like and yes it's with it to see Hobbiton if you're a fan of the books or the movies. Unfortunately a good portion of Hobbiton was closed during my visit but it didn't take away from the magic. The meal was pretty fun too but don't expect anything lavish. This experience is as gimmicky as Harry Potter world but I personally love Harry Potter world.

This tour guide and group were excellent! We had a great time We had some logistics issues because we were driving in from Auckland and running the Halfling Half Marathon, and they made it all work out by meeting us at Hobbiton for us to hop on the transport bus. Lunch was great, Hobbiton was very cool, and the tour bus driver and tour guide were the best. Definitely would go with this group again!!
