  A great way to spend a quick weekend in Auckland! Our guide, Pearl, was so much fun and extremely accommodating. She also taught us about the Māori culture. In addition to seeing Hobbiton and the Caves, the drive featured the stunning New Zealand countryside.

  My husband and I just finished an incredible tour, and we cannot recommend it highly enough! Our guide, Sam, was absolutely great. He did a lot of sharing about AKL and NZ as a whole —there is simply no substitute for a true local guide. The highlight was Hobbiton, which felt completely surreal. We felt so privileged to have a local Māori guide who was a master storyteller; she truly brought the movie sets to life and made us feel like we were stepping directly into the film. Her insights helped us relive our favorite scenes in the most magical way. The Glowworm Caves were another one-of-a-kind experience. While it’s a bit of a shame that photos aren’t allowed inside, the silence and the natural beauty made it even more atmospheric. The entire experience was seamless and truly amazing.   The tour was thoughtfully organized from start to finish, making everything smooth and enjoyable. Lunch was generous and delicious, and the ice cream stop was a delightful bonus. Mark is a great tour guide — patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely attentive throughout the entire experience. Overall, it was a truly memorable trip that I would highly recommend.

  Very enjoyable tour, the destinations were not to be missed. Our guide Grant kept us happy, safe and amused during the long drive and I appreciate his recommendations of things to try during this vacation.

• Hobbiton YES!! Waitomo Caves maybe not

  Grant with Cheeky Kiwi Tours was fabulous! He had a wealth of knowledge about Auckland specifically and New Zealand in general. He made this a very pleasant experience. Hobbiton was absolutely fantastic. James, our Hobitton guide, was very entertaining and answered every question our group had. Can't recommend seeing Hobbiton enough. Tours are very well organized and spaced apart to allow one to take photos without other people in the shots. Waitomo Caves, on the other hand were a bit underwhelming. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and the caves themselves are very cool, but the "glow worms" did not live up to the marketing. Five stars for Cheeky Kiwi Tours Six stars for Hobbiton. Two stars for Waitomo Caves. Overall, 4 stars.

  What a great experience visiting the original Hobbit set of Lord of the Rings. The drive to the location was breathtaking and the additional visit to the glowworm caves was a delight

• Two Special Attractions Together

  Generally a great tour to combine these special attractions together, esp. if you have time restraints (or, in my case, preferring a single drive from/to the city). Our guide was Hanoz, and he was charming (the whole long day) and funny at times. His guidance was clear as to what to expect--no member of the group was ever lost--as well as giving excellent side notes and recommendations. He also created an atmosphere where the group felt comfortable together (important for a 12+ hour tour). I'm not a Lord of the Rings particular fan. However, like the movie is worth seeing just for the scenery and special affects, just being in that uniquely beautiful countryside would have satisfied me. To my surprise, even I was taken in by actually visiting Hobbit holes. The detail was incredible, with the ability to sit on the furniture and examine items up close. I really wanted to see the Waitomo Caves. Where else can you see something like that in nature (two other places in the world, we were told on the tour). While what I saw met expectations, I would've liked to have seen greater glow worm numbers in more of the cave. The guide (George) did tell us before decending into the cave that, due to recent flooding and George showed us the line--way up the sides of the cave--where the river rose, that the glow worm presence had declined. It was still beautiful to see, and we were told that they will re-populate.

  Fantastic experience with a wonderful guide. It was really good to learn about Maori history along with the history of the caves and of course how the Lord of the rings have been able to showcase New Zealand/Aotearoa.

  Well worth the early start. Liam was a fantastic guide who made the whole day enjoyable and comfortable. The day was well organised and I never felt like we had to rush from place to place. Great value for a small group tour.
