Due to the delicate ecosystem within the Waitomo Caves, photography is not permitted inside. This policy helps protect the glowworms, ensuring the preservation of this unique environment.

Children aged 7 years and below are required to travel in a child safety car seat. You can provide your own or one can be provided for $20 NZD (with 24 hours notice).

Not recommended for travelers with severe mobility difficulties, a moderate amount of walking is involved.

5.00Matt our guide was fabulous and most helpful. Though it’s a long day trip, everything runs smoothly without a glitch and you don’t feel rushed as well. Hobbiton was world class, authentic and real!

5.00Our family had a great experience with Cheeky Kiwi tours. Our host “Grant” or you can call him “Graunt”. Very early pickup as it was a 2 hour trip to Hobbiton. Weather in June is really up in the air. Grant was very knowledgeable of the region and history. Pointing out areas of interest to past the time. Arriving at Hobbiton, Grant provided us the details of our ticket and that the tour is over seen and guided by the staff at Hobbiton and would be transferred to their bus and returned back. The Tour itself was wonderful! Our guide in Hobbiton (Tom) was great! Giving us some great trivia facts and movie references that was used while filming. Weather could not have been better. The cool overcast made the walk around Hobbiton very comfortable. During our time wandering Hobbiton. Grant was getting our lunch order ready that was selected during the drive. We stopped at “The Thirsty Weta” in Ōtorohanga. Lunch portion were very generous. Next stop was the Waitomo caves to see the glow worms. This was a shorter visit than Hobbiton. The caves were very impressive and well maintained to keep the environment stable. One very important note: NOT PICTURES ALLOWED. Don’t even try to sneak a shot in. This area has more cameras than Times Square. Also, for cultural reason that the Mãori believe that you will be taking their ancestors spirit from the area, or that the worms would not glow for the next group after you scared them. Take your pick either way it’s all about respect of the area and not entitlement that you want them on you social influence post. The drive back was late due to traffic and nothing that Grant could do about this.

5.00We had a fantastic day trip from Auckland to Hobbiton and Waitomo caves. Our guide, Ark was amazing, super friendly, full of local knowledge and funny too! Would highly recommend this tour as the transport was comfortable, snacks and water were provided and also our lunch was a standout!

5.00This tour was excellent from start to finish. Our guide, Ark, was absolutely incredible. He was knowledgeable, engaging, and shared so many interesting insights throughout the day that made every stop even more meaningful. We especially appreciated all the little extras he provided, snacks, water, helpful tips for each tour, and even fun quizzes along the way that kept everyone engaged. The tours themselves were amazing, well organized, and gave us plenty of time to enjoy each location without ever feeling rushed. The pace was perfect, and we learned so much along the way. Highly recommend this tour, and if you get Ark as your guide, you’re in for a fantastic experience!

5.00We got a nice tour guide today who was really helpful to provide detailed and interesting information about the places we visited and the whole country of NZ. Scenery is also great and quite chill as it is off-peak season now(not crowded and no queueing up). Lunch which is included in the tour was also out of my expectation. I seldom write a review but Cheeky Kiwi deserves it :) Hope to see you guys next time.

Our driver and guide, Matt, picked us up right on time and kept us informed and entertained with his stories and explanations throughout the drive.Just a heads-up for anyone visiting the Waitomo Caves: it gets quite chilly inside, so plan your outfit accordingly.The tour included lunch. I had read some reviews here claiming the lunch was meager, but that is absolutely not true! You get to choose two items (options include hot pies, sandwiches, salad, and dessert) plus a drink—making it a full, satisfying meal.The vehicles were very comfortable, and the overall organization was top-notch. Наш водитель-гид Матт, вовремя забрал нас, по дороге все рассказывал и объяснял, При посещении пещер Вайтомо нужно учитывать, что в пещерах прохладно.В тур был включен ланч, видела здесь отзывы, что ланч скудный, но это не так! Два блюда на выбор (горячее-пироги, сендвичи, салат и десерт, что-то 2 на выбор из перечисленного) плюс напиток, - полноценный ланч), машины вполне комфортные, организация тура отличная! Всем буду рекомендовать
