Ice caves in Iceland are unpredictable and you never know when, if, where or how many will form. But in the last few years, they have consistently formed by Vatnajökull glacier, which is the largest glacier in Europe. They are beautiful to see and a popular photo opportunity for many travelers. This tour will take you on an exploration of an ice cave inside the National Park of Vatnajökull. Ice caves are a rare phenomena that form naturally, so this tour is a once in a life time experience.

Suitable for all physical fitness levels
You must meet us at the departure location. This tour departs from Jökulsárlón café which is about 390 km east from Reykjavík, Just by the parking lot of the glacier lagoon Jökulsárlón. Please arrive at least 10 minutes before your booked departure time
Warm and waterproof clothing required
Hiking shoes required (We do not offer hiking shoes rental for this tour. Please wear hiking shoes or you will not be fit to go into the ice cave.)
The weather in Iceland is unpredictable and can be changing rapidly. Our guides check on a daily base if it is save to go to the ice cave.*
Our guide decides which cave to visit every day depending on safety and weather conditions. If on that day the cave is not suitable to enter, due to unforeseeable reasons such as a glacial flood, excessive rain around the cave, our guide will inform you at the meeting point. You can choose to either follow our guide on a glacier hike to the cave (but do not enter due to safety reasons), or you can choose on site to cancel the tour with a full refund. If you choose the glacier hike we will also refund you 30% of the tour. We hope the glacier hike and partial refund will compensate you, as the surrounding area of Vatnajökull is extremely beautiful and does not disappoint.

2.00The tour guide was very friendly, but the trip itself was very disappointing. There is one package that you can select to have your pictures professionally taken, so most of the time you’re standing around waiting for the people who paid for that to have their pictures taken. It is a very expensive trip to just be standing around most of the time. They weren’t true ice caves as demonstrated in the pictures. Do not expect caves like the ones in the pictures. Most people were just having photo shoots, whether done by the guide or not, so most of the time you’re dodging people’s pictures instead of being able to enjoy the cave. The people who paid for professional so photos should be their own private group, and the ones who paid for the regular tour without pics should be their own group.

3.00Our tour guide was knowledgeable and kind, but overall the tour was disappointing. Some people paid for the guide to take professional pics of them, so it was a lot of standing around waiting for people to get their pics taken. It was mostly an ice cave photo shoot. There should be separate tours for people who just want a photo shoot with the ice cave, and people who actually want to enjoy and tour it. Lots of standing around and waiting for people to get pics taken.

5.00We did the Crystal Cave Tour and absolutely loved it. Our guide, Elias, was fantastic, not only did he lead us safely through the glacier and explain everything clearly and passionately, but he also shared tons of helpful tips for the rest of our trip in Iceland. You can tell he truly enjoys what he does, and it makes the whole experience even better. It was a real pleasure touring with him. Highly recommended.

5.00Organized company. But we got off to a bad start because of the over-*****-check-in guy's response. The guide who accompanied us on the glacier was very nice, knowledgeable and experienced! We entered two caves in the ice and walked on it. We recommend! Ps. Dress up it's cold!!

5.00The experience was amazing, the views, the walks, everything is amazing the only thing is that they change the hour of departure and needed to wait a little bit more otherwise everything was fine, the tour guide was really helpful and friendly. I totally recommend this trip.

5.00My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our glacier hike with Fannar! He was very personable, knowledgeable and funny. The morning before the tour started out a little rough for us due driving in bad weather, but we were able to hop on to a later tour: accommodating but it varies based on the tour sizes. Crowd sizes vary but our tour had about 10 people and we were lucky to be the only group hiking so it was so peaceful. An overall amazing experience!

5.00This tour was awesome. Fanur was a phenomenal tour guide. He was knowledgeable, enthusiastic and kept everyone safe. The glaciers were beautiful and otherworldly. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting iceland.
