After we arrive at Istiqlal mosque we can do some pictures of mosque and Cathedral at outside. Before we go in the Mosque we the guide bring you inside then Explore the mosque will be completed to other travelers. while entering the mosque providing to take off shoes due to of Muslim regulation and we stay waiting other travelers to explore by local guide. Istiqlal also called Independence mosque which is the largest mosque in Southeast Asia and the 9th largest mosque in the world in terms of worshiper capacity. after finished proceed to across the street on one hands off most experience then visit the old church.

Jakarta Cathedral

After we arrived at Church then we just take some photos out side or we can visit while you can see the design of Cathedral in Jakarta. Cathedral is one of the old church standing before the mosque, so the area has in a story since Dutch era. This is neo-gothic church was consecrated in 1901 having been rebuilt at same location. The Jakarta cathedral is located near Merdeka square, presidential palace and in front of istiqlal mosque. we visiting in one step then continue for sightseeing and photostop at monument.

We booked a pick up from the port where the ship docked. Communication was excellent and Sari, our guide was waiting for us at the port. She explained everything about the sights we visited and tailored the trip to our needs. Sari had excellent english and was so enthusiastic and cheerful which further added to the day.

This tour was convenient because of pickup at the cruise terminal. It hit the highlights given limited time in port and holiday vs. Jakarta's size and traffic. Sadly due to timing we were not able to enter the Istiqlal Mosque, nor the Cathedral (New Year's mass in progress). I was expecting just a puppet show at the Makutharama Puppet Studio stop, so was pleasantly surprised that it's more of a gallery with some exquisite offerings.
Ideal ride even if you have half a day for a stopover flight

Pleasant tour, of modesty suitable for those like me who had only one day to spend in the city. It gives you an idea of the city and some of its typical attractions. The Hanny Guide very nice and nice, was exhaustive in the explanations. Despite the traffic we managed to see both the old and new city. Of course we did not visit museums, but the mosque did and the puppet factory. Recommended to spend half a day but if you have more time better full tours.

Fitri was our guide, and she went above and beyond to show us Jakarta highlights and tell us so many historical details. It really felt like our tour was curated just for us, whether it was the puppet studio or coffee, it was never just those things. Her knowledge of the city made this tour truly amazing. We were grateful to start to share her love of the city.

Fantastic tour where Hanny the guide and the driver Man took us as a crow flies through both modern and old Jakarta. They were friendly, very benevolent and knowledgeable about Jakarta’s history and navigating such a large and busy city. If you are short on time, you should definitely book this tour to get a good impression of the city.
