  This night walking tour in Kanazawa was a highlight of our trip. Ai was a wonderful local guide - knowledgeable, warm and incredibly organised. Our small group made the experience intimate, with plenty of time to ask questions as we explored the beautifully lit geisha districts of Higashi Chaya and Kazuemachi Chaya. Ai even offered to take photos of me and my partner, which was such a thoughtful touch since we rarely get pictures together when travelling. The quiet night atmosphere was stunning, every bit as charming as Kyoto but far more peaceful. We ended with a delicious multi-course dinner at Fukuwauchi - my home-made mushroom udon was outstanding, and I left absolutely full. Highly recommend!

  What a wonderful experience we had on the Kanazawa Night Tour by Kanazawa Tours. Saya was our tour guide and she made our tour truly unforgettable. She was friendly, outgoing, and very knowledgeable about Kanazawa. We could tell from the moment we met her how passionate she was about sharing her deep love for Kanazawa. On the tour, we walked through quiet, lantern-lit streets of the Higashi Chaya district. It was magical having the place basically to ourselves and was a stark contrast to the busy streets during the day time. We also visited the Kazue Chaya historic geisha district and would not have known where to find it if Saya didn’t show us it. To wrap up the evening, Saya took us to a cozy, local restaurant where we cooked udon right at the table. I’ve never done that before and surely would not have found the restaurant on my own. It was a hidden gem and so much fun! The Kanazawa Night Tour was one of the highlights of our trip! Thank you to Saya for making it so enjoyable!

  

  

  

• Magical and Cozy Evening Exploring the Historic Gion District

  Our tour ended up being just the four of us with our tour guide Ai. The experience of walking through the normally crowded Gion district during the quieter evening hours was magical. Ai was well-prepared with details and stories about the geisha to help bring the area to life in a way that can only happen with an attentive, thoughtful guide. The dinner was special as well with a cozy setup. The waitstaff were incredibly nice and with Ai's translation responsive to my questions about what type of leaf (persimmon) was included alongside the meal. There is really no other way to have this kind of local, in-depth experience. Recommended.

  This was a great tour finding out about the area and the meal was fantastic.We would never have found the local restaurant by ourselves.Our guide was excellent and recommended other bars for us to go to after the tour was over.

  Our Host Saya was an excellent friendly host and explained everything beautifully and we also had great conversations during our traditional Japanese meal.

  My wife fell ill the morning of the scheduled tour. I called and asked if they would allow us to switch to the next day. They said they could not because it was the busy season, but it’s hard for me to believe they somehow could not add two extra people who were fully paid up. It seems pretty heartless to not accommodate a request due to an illness, but it is what it is.

  Wonderful experience tonight walking around the geisha area of Kanazawa. Our guide Kenzo was a local who had a great knowledge and understanding of the city and culture. The local restaurant was excellent and we would highly recommend both Kenzo and this tour.

  We so enjoyed this evening tour of two of Kanazawa ‘s Geisha Districts. Saya was a delightful guide, so knowledgeable and pleasant! We learned so much about the history of the Geisha and this area. We were able to choose from a variety of delicious Japanese dishes which cooked at our table, accompanied by a variety of traditional side dishes and drinks. Saya explained each dish and drink and how to enjoy them. I would highly recommend this tour.
