At Village Cooking Class Kandy, we offer a unique opportunity to learn traditional Sri Lankan cooking in a village setting. The experience begins with a visit to a local market, where you’ll learn how to select fresh vegetables and ingredients essential to Sri Lankan cuisine. Back at the village, you’ll be guided through the preparation and cooking of authentic dishes, giving you hands-on experience in crafting a perfect Sri Lankan meal.

You are welcome to join as an individual, a couple, or a group. It offers a wonderful opportunity. Our traditional cooking class is based in Kandy, and we accommodate groups of all sizes, from individuals to groups of up to 15 people.

By the end, you'll have the chance to prepare a complete traditional meal. Finally, you'll enjoy tasting the delicious food. In addition, this experience includes a brief visit to a nearby village, providing you with a unique insight into local life.

We provide pickup from a designated point for the market visit, ensuring a seamless experience. Back at the village, you’ll be guided through the preparation and cooking of authentic dishes, giving you hands-on experience in crafting a perfect Sri Lankan meal.In addition, this experience includes a brief visit to a nearby village, providing you with a unique insight into local life. Market Visit - We offer a market visit as part of our activity. During the visit, we guide you through the process of selecting five vegetables from a wide variety available in the market. You will also have the option to choose either chicken or fish. In addition, we provide detailed explanations about the spices and other ingredients at the market. Afterward, we return to the village to begin the cooking session. Village Cooking Class - learn traditional Sri Lankan cooking in a village setting.

    It is one of the best experience I did in Sri Lanka. I have no words to say how lovely it was. The family brings you in their beautiful house, in a luxuriant forest. Then you cook different types of curry. I also did the market tour before and it was very worth it, with explanations on different vegetables. It also allows to go talking with the people selling the products and taking pictures. The family was so so so nice and explaining every thing very well, asking about preferences, taking pictures if needed and answering all my questions. I highly recommend it, it was just simply amazing. It will be the highlight of your Sri Lanka Stay !

    We had a truly memorable experience with Shyama and her husband. The market visit was great to start with to gather the really fresh ingredients. The traditional kitchen next to their house is a lovely venue. After tea and intros we set about cooking the numerous curries we had chosen. We used all the traditional methods and the recipes were easy enough to follow under Shyama's helpful instruction. After a couple of hours we had prepared about 11 lovely varied dishes. We then had the best lunch and nearly finished it all! We each had our favourite dish; Sambal, special aubergine curry and chicken curry. Delicious pancakes with caramel coconut were cooked to finish us off. The whole experience was really great and the food amazing. They are lovely people too. Thank you.
