At Village Cooking Class Kandy, we offer a unique opportunity to learn traditional Sri Lankan cooking in a village setting. The experience begins with a visit to a local market, where you’ll learn how to select fresh vegetables and ingredients essential to Sri Lankan cuisine. Back at the village, you’ll be guided through the preparation and cooking of authentic dishes, giving you hands-on experience in crafting a perfect Sri Lankan meal.

You are welcome to join as an individual, a couple, or a group. It offers a wonderful opportunity. Our traditional cooking class is based in Kandy, and we accommodate groups of all sizes, from individuals to groups of up to 15 people.

By the end, you'll have the chance to prepare a complete traditional meal. Finally, you'll enjoy tasting the delicious food. In addition, this experience includes a brief visit to a nearby village, providing you with a unique insight into local life.

We provide pickup from a designated point for the market visit, ensuring a seamless experience. Back at the village, you’ll be guided through the preparation and cooking of authentic dishes, giving you hands-on experience in crafting a perfect Sri Lankan meal.In addition, this experience includes a brief visit to a nearby village, providing you with a unique insight into local life. Market Visit - We offer a market visit as part of our activity. During the visit, we guide you through the process of selecting five vegetables from a wide variety available in the market. You will also have the option to choose either chicken or fish. In addition, we provide detailed explanations about the spices and other ingredients at the market. Afterward, we return to the village to begin the cooking session. Village Cooking Class - learn traditional Sri Lankan cooking in a village setting.

    We had a wonderful time cooking authentic Sri Lankan curry dishes. The hosts were friendly, knowledgeable and made us very welcome in their kitchen. This experience is one of the best we have had whilst in Kandy.

    A unique experience! The shopping at the market was already great, but what came after it exceeded everything again! We were very lucky and were a group of 2 today. The location is an absolute dream and the family is incredibly nice. The food we prepared together was agreed with us before and personal wishes were taken into account. The result was the best food we had on our trip so far! Absolute recommendation.

    What a brilliant experience! From visiting the market to learn about and pick out fresh produce to getting hands on in the kitchen preparing amazing food. I learnt so much and really enjoyed the wonderful setting to cook in! Shyama is an excellent teacher. As a solo traveller I felt instantly welcomed and engaged with a group of like minded people all there to learn and experience. Would 100% recommend!

    It was one of the best cooking classes I have ever done. We went first to the market to buy some ingredients and then they took me to their beautiful house in the countryside. We cooked 8 delicious dishes. 100% recommend it.
