2 Hour Swim nearby Dolphin / Seal & Coastal Snorkeling Safari departs from Christmas Cove Marina, Penneshaw. Have the opportunity to swim nearby wild dolphins or seals and snorkel some of KI’s beautiful coastline.

It's a great wildlife watching tour! We provide wetsuits, mask, towels, snorkel, and fins. Arrive at Christmas Cove Marina in Penneshaw 30 minutes prior to departure. You will be fitted into the appropriately sized wetsuit, mask, snorkel, and flippers as well as be provided with a safety brief. Then jump on board our 28 seater vessel in search of the marine life that inhabits the stunning coastline.

Seals often become very active which provides a unique snorkeling experience. We are the only operator in South Australia that provides the opportunity to swim nearby the Long-Nosed Seals. Also, have the opportunity to swim alongside dolphins in the wild. The guide will also provide an informative commentary along the way.

Recommended children be over the age of 9 years old to participate in swimming activity.

Not recommended for those with a pacemaker

Not suitable for those who are pregnant (can be on vessel but not in water)

Water temperature is between 14-15 degrees. Expect it to be refreshing. We provide wetsuits (compulsory to wear). Kids under 14 are double wet suited. You can ask to be double wet suited if you are prone to being cold.

Please bring a warm jacket! We will have waterproof jackets on board but you can put your warm jacket over the top when getting out the water.

Seal numbers vary throughout the different seasons. Numbers peak in winter and are at their lowest from Nov-Jan

Wildlife Interactions are NOT guaranteed. The team will do their best on the day to give you the best experience possible. If you get in the water at any stage for coastal snorkeling, seals swim or dolphin swim YOU DO NOT get any money refunded.

For safety reasons swim will not be conducted when a pod has neonates (baby dolphins) with them. You are welcome to observe them from aboard the vessel.

Search for the dolphin pods that reside in these coastal waters and take the opportunity to swim alongside them in the wild. A truly unforgettable wildlife encounter. Your friendly guide will also provide informative commentary along the way. Please note, these are wild animals. This tour is swim with dolphins or seals and is dependent on what occurs with wildlife on the day.

Amazing experience. We got to swim with seals and see a big pack of dolphins. Sadly we weren't able to swim with them but still was amazing. Thanks to our guides.

This was not what I expected. For some reason I was thinking the seals would be in the water with us within in a protected pool of water, not out in the open ocean potentially bumping up against rocks along the coast. Once the seals were within sight, we all got into the water and then had to swim over to where they were hanging out on the rocks, hoping one of them would dive in, but then when one did, we'd stick our head under water, but it was too choppy and bubbly to see anything because of the water hitting the rocks. Overall it was a pretty disappointing experience because of this. The only reason I gave this a start rating is because the staff was friendly and helpful and I felt safe.

Although the dolphins weren’t particularly cooperative and swam away from us, our time with the seals was excellent. We got plenty of time to get up close to a large group resting on rocks and several of them took turns to join us in the water. Some were very curious and interactive. Everything was very well organised, the equipment provided was top notch and we felt very safe. Thanks guys for a great outing!

Had a wonderful boat trip, swam with sea lions, saw a few dolphins from the boat (too many waves, so couldn't swim) super helpful and nice crew

Another experience I can tick off my bucket list! We were able to swim with both seals and dolphins and the three young crew members went out of their way to be upbeat and friendly while still being professional and efficient. A perfect day.

Simply a great day out with both Dave and Elijah knowledgeable and gracious hosts. The dive equipment is in great condition as is the boat. We were fortunate in being greeted with a stunning early autumn day with calm and clear waters. The environmental care that Dave and Elijah demonstrated with the marine life was admirable (as in impressive, not as in navy rank😅)
Fun time with the local marine creatures provided both an unforgettable experience and great value for money.

Thoroughly enjoyed our experience with Island Ocean Safaris. Both Dave and Elija were great and informative hosts that were very respectful and knowledgeable of the marine ecosystem. Although the dolphins wouldn't cooperate for a swim, the seals certainly did. They are now our favourite sea mammals 😅 Great fun and great value for money.

I really enjoyed the experience, the seals and dolphins didn't quite put on the show I was hoping for but we saw them close by and the guides tried their best with wild animals that don't always comply. It was the fastest 2 hours I've had. Would definitely recommend. Our group wasn't too big so it was quite a personal experience.
