Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew
Head inside Kew Gardens and then spend as little or as much time as you like exploring London’s finest botanical gardens. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kew Gardens consists of acres of tranquil grounds with one of the world’s largest collections of plants. Either walk around at leisure or join one of the free guided walking tours that take place daily in the gardens. Stroll around admiring highlights like the Azalea Garden, Minka House and Bamboo Garden in the center of the park. Check out the 17th century-style Queen’s Garden near Kew Palace (also known as the Dutch House), and see several of Kew’s oldest sculptures that were donated by the British Royal Family. Perhaps take a walk along the Rhizotron and Xstrara Treetop Walkway, and stroll through the crowns of oak trees at a height of 59 feet (18m), seeing birdlife, fungi and lichen up close. Watch out for the 10-storey Pagoda in the southwest corner of the gardens, and wander along the Holly Walk, seeing trees that have grown there for over 130 years. Bask in balmy tropical temperatures inside Temperate House – the world’s largest surviving Victorian glasshouse – and see a spectacular array of African plants and sub-tropical trees and palms. In the center of the beautiful building is a Chilean Wine Palm, which is said to be one of the world’s tallest indoor plants. With plenty of leafy picnic areas, as well as four cafés on site, you can eat lunch inside the gardens (own expense), or simply sit down and relax in between seeing all the rich flora and fauna.

This was the first time I've been to Kew Gardens and it definitely won't be my last visit. This time it was to visit mainly the conservatories. I was there all day but still feel that I didn't really do them justice - there is just so much to see! A last minute trip on the Kew Explorer Land Train then just showed me how little of the Gardens I had seen.

We visited Kew Gardens on Sunday 3rd May, it was our first visit and opted to drive and park using our blue badge. We looked on website and decided to go to the Elizabeth gate as it says it has 3 blue badge spaces however its street parking so restricted to 3 hours so moved our car to the actual Kew Gardens main carpark. There was plenty of blue badge spaces at 10:30am. Free parking for blue badge holders. There is a charge for none blue badge holders but not sure how much it is. We absolutely loved our visit. We headed to Kew Palace first and had look around palace garden then went into the palace. Not a lot to see in the palace but still lovely to see, we then went for a drink in the orangery. It cost just over £5 for 2 drinks. We relaxed for a bit before starting to head over to queen Charlotte’s cottage. On the way over we saw our first ever green woodpecker! We had a look around the cottage which again wasn’t much inside but was lovely to see. We then headed out to the large pond. There were so many babies, we saw baby Egyptian geese, baby moorhens, and lots more ducks and geese, we spent a while in this area just watching them. We then went to the rhododendron dell which was all in bloom. We watched a couple of foxes running in and out of the trees and bushes, again another highlight. We can’t wait to return but may have to wait a while as we are up North. We loved our visit. We spent about 4 hours here. But could have stayed a lot longer if the weather hadn’t been so warm.

Gardens are good, that’s where it ends. Restaurant staff, quality of food, quality of cleanliness are all awful. Not managed in any way. Total chaos and staff don’t know what they’re talking about or what they’re even doing. The buggy’s used by ground staff are driven too fast and inconsiderately in a way that appears that customers are a nuisance! Waste of money. I have written to senior management with very detailed examples of complaint but appears they are not interested due to lack of reply, that says it all.

With the code you get from tripadvisor you can't enter directly. You will be directed to a separate cash register where you will need to get a ticket. This is taking a long time. As if they barely have to deal with it. But the gardens and the greenhouses are very nice.

Visited Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew and, to be fair, it’s absolutely stunning — especially in spring. Everything is in bloom, beautifully maintained, and it’s a really lovely place to spend a few hours. We genuinely enjoyed the gardens. But the luggage situation? Completely baffling. There is no place whatsoever to store your bags — no lockers, no facilities, nothing. You’re expected to carry everything with you all day. We were told the lockers were removed due to security concerns, which might sound reasonable… except it makes no sense in practice. You can still walk in with luggage, enter buildings, and there are no bag checks at all. So lockers are gone “for security,” but bags are still allowed everywhere without any screening? It just doesn’t add up. Worth knowing before you visit — if you have luggage, you’re completely on your own. A bit ridiculous, honestly.

Beautiful day to walk in a garden and to see Henry’s castle. Wear your walking shoes because there is a lot of ground to cover and bring water! We decided that if we lived near this garden, we would buy a year round pass

Need to allow for a half day to see everything that Kew has to offer. Great places to eat and we visited late spring so the bulbs were amazing.
