This was such a great experience for us. A family of four with a 7yo and 8yo who had never seen snow. I wasn’t confident enough to drive to the snow, or deal with chains so this suited us well. There were two buses on the day, and one of the larger groups was split between the two buses which was disappointing for them. We were on bus two, and called second to last. Each group who got called got on the bus and sat where they liked. Because the bus was booked to capacity that meant that the very last group was a mum and two teenage boys. One of them ended up sitting on the back seat next to us, mum was in in the passenger seat next to the driver and the second teen was else where on the bus. This meant that later they chose to sit together (as I would too!) and another family got split up. That was the only negative, just the seating arrangements. The driver Cory was fantastic, helpful and kind, very informative and shared lots of history without chatting the whole way. The Aussie playlist on the way up was well appreciated! The first stop at the bakery was fine, nice scenery and reasonably priced food. Lots of places to sit and clean considering how many people must come through. Next was up to the snow. I wish I had understood I could book the rental snow gear ahead of time, but I missed that. We were allowed to keep things on the bus, but it was locked and left unattended so while I know our stuff was safe I would take all valuables with you. When you arrive, the rental place is up a slight incline. I wore sneakers with only slight grip and slid all over the place getting to the hire shop! My kids sneakers held up better, but I wished I’d worn better grip shoes as some of it was very icy, and I almost slipped multiple times. You scan a QR code, book how much rental gear you want and it gives you a quote. Line up and they get you to sit and try ok clothes. As there are multiple buses at once it got pretty busy and I wish I’d asked for a larger size pants, as it was hard to move in tight pants once we got out but it was very rushed. There is nowhere to store the shoes you’ve taken off, so bring a waterproof bag you can stash them in while you’re out. We found it was just the right amount of time for the rental stuff, a snowball fight, a snowman (BYO carrot) and lunch in the cafe. Lunch was a bit of hot and miss. There were dumplings, stir fry noodles, chips, nuggets and chips, fish and chips. The nuggets sold out before we got there. I got the dumplings and realised I couldn’t eat them back at the table, as they were prawn. NO label on that, no warning, so that’s $12 gone. Kids were happy with a bucket of chips each. There’s a separate line for hot food and one for coffee/cake which kept things moving well. Back on the bus, the Falls were gorgeous, I could have spent twice as long there. The chocolate factory was yummy, and the staff very accommodating considering we arrived less than an hour before closing. They’re probably used to it as we were running to time, but they were fabulous. Beautiful views, we could have spent longer there as well! Back to Melbourne Gaol drop off by 6:10pm. Obviously a very long day, most kids were asleep by the time we got back. Well worth the money for the convenience as assistance. The online support through the app was also very useful, I downloaded that after I’d purchased the tickets and was able to ask questions with very prompt responses. The drive would have taken twice as long if I’d done it, Cory was confident on the road while also being careful, he is a great asset to the company. Top tips: 1. The rental place doesn’t do gloves, beanies, goggles etc, so bring your own or purchase from the building on the left, rental is on the right. They were pretty reasonably priced for something they could charge heaps more for. I got a souvenir magnet for like $6. 2. bring sick bags if you get sick, there’s nothing on the bus. If someone else is sick make sure you open your air con vents to blast the cold air around 3. It was cold but sunny, I wish I’d brought sunscreen and sunnies for snow play Overall a wonderful day, and I would definitely recommend.

The Alpine Lake resort was average - no major complaints but we only found limited snow - the play area was decent and so was the Tobogan run. You can’t really blame the resort as it has been quite warm recently - they did make artificial snow. The hidden gem was the hike up the summit - we found much better snow on the way up and the views from the top were amazing - thanks a lot for the top from our guide Joe, who was simply amazing. The waterfalls and the chocolate factory were very good

The trip and places we were looking forward to was actually thr chocolate factories in yarra valley, however due to the collision along the way whilst on route to the factories the road was closed and the bus had to do a rerouting to another longer routes. The tour was cancelled due to time constraints. We were disappointed since its a place that we wanted to go. The tour leader John was apologised till we arrived back to old gaol. No compensation be given to us, if there is any we would be happy to take your tours on any part of Australia again.

It was great. I did the winter walking and still got to see some decent amount of snow. Sadly, due to a traffic accident, we didn't make it to the chocolate factory
