2.00The best part of the tour was the bus drive. Super friendly guy. Unfortunately because of some road closure the bus only did a small round tour. But we didn’t know any of that till we worked it out our selfs. Very disappointing.

2.00I honestly think I'm a pretty forgiving person to companies when things don't go well, we all know life isn't perfect. But this package (1 day hop on/off plus cruise plus 24 hours free) made for 2 very stressful London days with young children. We had the app and made our plans the day before. The app theoretically tells you about all closures/issues/delays. So first we got the tube to Westminster for stop 14. The road was closed and a representative from another company explained that Golden Tours weren't stopping there (no mention of this on app, but 23 was stated as being closed). They suggested going across to London eye but with the kids that's a bit of a trek. So we used the app and found stop 24 about a 10 min walk away. We got there and waited about half an hour, during which time 5 other buses came from 2 other companies. We then realised on the app you could see the live location of the buses and all were going a different route down a road behind us. So we then figured we would have to go to another stop. Queue another 20 minute walk and tracking buses again to stop 20 where without me jumping in the road I'm not sure the bus would have stopped as a bus was already parked at the stand. As we got on there was no mention of headphones or maps so we got the kids settled upstairs and then I went downstairs to find these. We ended up on the orange route first (not our original plan but we had lost over an hour of time and just wanted to get on a bus by that point) The commentary is disappointing to say the least. So much very repetitive music (if you can call it that) in between odd facts that often are said way past where they are relevant to. There is such a wasted opportunity here - we went past so many interesting buildings and things that I have no doubt there could be an almost non stop verbal commentary if someone actually put some effort into it. We completed our first loop, had a walk to the palaces and then got back on another bus....which only went a couple of stops before we had to all change to another bus. However, this bus driver is the only reason I give 2 stars not 1. It was the last red route tour of the day on Monday 16th Feb and he gave us commentary almost non stop for the 10 stops we were on for. We actually felt like we learnt things and just simple things like had warnings of what stops were coming up were clearly given. Day 2...we did the cruise first. Annoyingly we missed a boat by 1 minute and had to wait another 45 before we were on and off up the river, but the city cruises are good with nice commentary and a choice of outside or inside. At Tower Hill we headed for stop 8,red route. Got on but it was so full we had to sit downstairs. I say this only so that you can understand how strange it seemed that when we got to Waterloo (baring in mind we had wanted to do a full loop) we were told he would be stopping at lambeth for 45 minutes and there is nothing there so best to get off here. No sign of any other bus on the app. No information on if there were any other buses coming. We gave up at this point and got on a normal bus to do a bit more sightseeing! I can't compare to any other tour bus company (apart from the fact they stopped at the stop we were wanting!) But I would not recommend the Golden Tours London Hop on Hop off tour. (We also got it through tesco vouchers - think I would have been even more unhappy had I actually paid full price.)

2.00I'd skip this company if I were you unless you want to spend more time standing at bus stops waiting than actually riding on the bus. And then when you are actually on the bus, it is nonstop switching out drivers or inexplicably sitting at bus stops for 20 minutes for no apparent reason with no explanation by the driver. If you want to stand at bus stops and watch multiple Big Bus, City Sightseeing, and TOOT buses pull up and depart while you wait on Golden, then this is your company.

3.00This tour booked incl boat trip on the Thames. Unfortunately, up to 2x experienced that the bus does not run on time or at all, while the app does state that the bus runs and what time! Eventually caught the subway to see the city, so lost extra money.. The boat trip on the Thames was highly recommended! Nice trip with a live report of what was on the way.

3.00Be aware that road closures and protests will delay the expected time of spots. Due to time we were to board which wax after 4, we only were able to use the bus two hours. We paid with expectation of 4 hours without anyone letting us know in advance it would not be possible to have a round trip back to our first stop. We enjoyed the 1 hr 45 min and hope to get out there again tomorrow
