The Battle of Long Tan
Let’s Go! Following pick up at your hotel at 8:00am, we’ll take a pleasant 1 and 1/2 hour drive to Ba Ria Central Market. On the way, we’ll stop to stretch our legs and pick up your local guide for the Long Tan – Nui Dat area. Your guide will give you an introduction to the Ba Ria area and history. Then, we’ll head to the Phuoc Long Tunnels, a 1.4km tunnel system where our guide will tell fascinating stories that illustrate the life of the Viet Cong during the wartime. He or she will also explain how the cashew nut grows. Vietnam is the largest producer and exporter of cashews in the world!
Nui Dat hill
Step Back In Time In Nui Dat & Luscombe Airfield Next, we’ll arrive in Nui Dat, or SAS Hill, the former base of the Australian Army. Our guide will illuminate the important history of this area, showing photos so that it is easy for you to remember or imagine this period in time. Then we’ll drive to Luscombe Airfield, which has been preserved in a small village. Our guide will tell you the stories associated with this significant site. Here, we’ll also have a chance to visit the kindergarten built by Australian Veterans.

5.00We had the most amazing day with Nam. Being able to do a dawn service on ANZAC day at Long Tan was one of the highlights of our trip. Nam's knowledge about Nui Dat was excellent. When we told him my Uncle had served in Vietnam, Nam was able to identify where in Nui Dat he was and take us to those places. This was definitely a life changing experience and I highly recommend doing this with Nam. Also a special mention needs to go to our driver Lady Hong for getting us there safely and in comfort

5.00We had an incredible one-day private tour with Huong visiting the Long Tan Cross, Nui Dat base, and Horseshoe Hill. Huong was exceptionally detailed, informed, and brought history to life using photos and over 30 years of knowledge. Knowing she personally cleans the Long Tan memorial site every month shows her immense respect and dedication to the site. She was funny, personable, and made the whole day feel tailored just for us. After the history tour, she took us to Vung Tau, which we absolutely fell in love with. The seafood lunch she chose was right on the water and truly amazing. We ended the day with spectacular views from the lighthouse, some sight seeing, and a comfortable ride home. Thank you, Hoang, for your time, knowledge, and for making our trip so memorable!

5.00Hung was an outstanding tour guide on our one-day Long Tan and Vung Tau tour. She was very informative, took great care of us the whole day, and had incredibly detailed knowledge of the Australian war effort, especially at Nui Dat and Long Tan. We were really impressed by how she personally looks after the memorial cross at Long Tan, laying flowers and tending to it regularly – it’s clear she’s been doing this for thirty years with real heart. She also took us to some fantastic spots around Vung Tau, including an excellent seafood restaurant. The food was delicious and the whole day ran smoothly. We had a wonderful time and we want to sincerely thank Hung for her time and care. Highly recommended!

5.00A most informative day with many laughs along the way. Huong our travel guide was exceptional sharing much knowledge and hospitality with us. Lunch was beautiful in our little seafood restaurant near the ocean and loved hearing all the stories about the Australian troupes. Definately worth the day and money. Highly recommend. 5.00What an incredible experience. Our amazing guide Huong, and our driver Don ensured we had a comfortable ride with so much information as well as a few laughs. This tour was particularly personal to all of us as we were connected to family who fought in the Vietnam war. Huong took us everywhere she could related to our family connection and even shared historical pictures, songs and stories that were related to the places and times. Lunch was also amazing. 12/10 would recommend. Thank you for such a memorable day.

Taking a private tour was an excellent way to get personalised information and do things at my pace and Chris’s history and research of Long Tan was fantastic. This was followed by a delicious lunch with Chris’s recommendations and a visit to Vung Tau. Highly recommend.

5.00Very good informative tour with ms Huong. Cost off tour included admissions lunch and flowers for long tan memorial.She was a very experienced guide, very friendly and lovely person. You will not be disappointed with this tour. Our driver was great as well.
