The Navajo name for Lower Antelope Canyon is Hasdeztwazi or “Spiral Rock Arches.” This incredible canyon has been created over many thousands of years by the relentless forces of water and wind, slowly carving and sculpting the sandstone into forms, textures, and shapes which we observe today.

The views in Lower Antelope Canyon change constantly as the sun moves across the sky, filtering lights softly across the stone walls. These ever-moving sun angles bounce light back and forth across the narrow canyon’s walls, creating a dazzling display of color, light, and shadow.

Lower Antelope Canyon

A 1 hour guided tour through Lower Antelope Canyon. Learn about the geology, history and the culture of the Navajo people that live around the canyon. Don't forget to bring a camera you will be taking a lot of photos! Antelope canyon is famous for its wave-like structure and the light beams that shine directly down into the openings of the canyon, creating a super natural appearance. Many travellers and photographers have been attracted here, regard it as a place where dreams come true. Different from the flat ground of Upper Antelope Canyon, Lower Antelope Canyon requires visitors to climb upside and down through staircases and ladders. It feels like you are entering a new planet, starting a magical adventure.

Beautiful slot canyon. Guide assisted with photos and camera settings. Very crowded in the canyon. Large groups sandwiched together

It was a really cool experience. Some up and down on a ladder to get down into the canyon but otherwise just a really cool visual experience. Lots of picture taking opportunities. Our guide was also really helpful with getting just the perfect pictures of us. Overall worth the drive!

The tour takes place on private land. The lower canyon has two designated tour companies, Ken and Dixie (brother and sister) we went through Ken’s Tours and our guide was Omar. He was super friendly and knowledgeable. The tour is a fully walking/hiking tour, but it’s not challenging. Our 8 year old had no trouble whatsoever. There are some steep stair cases, but as long as you take your time you’ll be fine. It is absolutely gorgeous and well worth it.

This was a relatively easy walk--some steps and ladders to climb but that made it more interesting. The slot canyons were so beautiful and made for great photos. Our tour guide, Sho, was very informative and a fantastic photographer! Would definitely recommend this tour.

Highly recommend lower antelope canyon excursion. The color of the slot canyon and sky just incredible. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly.
