The Navajo name for Lower Antelope Canyon is Hasdeztwazi or “Spiral Rock Arches.” This incredible canyon has been created over many thousands of years by the relentless forces of water and wind, slowly carving and sculpting the sandstone into forms, textures, and shapes which we observe today.
The views in Lower Antelope Canyon change constantly as the sun moves across the sky, filtering lights softly across the stone walls. These ever-moving sun angles bounce light back and forth across the narrow canyon’s walls, creating a dazzling display of color, light, and shadow.

It’s even more beautiful in person! Lighting at different times of the day can and will change the visual dynamics of the canyon, so it’s an amazing experience every time! There are a lot of ladders to climb up and down. Please be mindful of those in front and back of you on the ladders and during pictures. There’s a time limit and it can be very hot in there as the air flow is limited in some areas. Great pics even with just standard smart phones! Be sure to get a pic of you and your group exiting the canyon. Surprisingly cool! Don’t miss it!

The canyon was beautiful, however our tour guide was very rude and aggressive. He proceeded to get within 10” of a persons face and accused someone of taking photos when they were not supposed to. Turns out that person was not taking photos. Then the guide proceeded to insult two other individuals in front of the entire group. I would recommend using different tour company.

Good, was with my parents our guide helped a lot. The only thing to improve is to talk more about the construction.
