On this guided day tour you walk onto the unusual terrain of the Matanuska Glacier. You will see and learn about many glacial features such as seracs, moulons and crevasses. Don't forget your camera! This is an unparalleled, authentic activity. Tour price includes glacier access and guiding. Drive time is two hours each way, with a stop half way there where you can purchase lunch and snack items.

Your day begins with pickup at your hotel, or at the downtown Visitor Center, in our comfortable Mercedes Sprinter van. Pickups are between 7:45 and 8:30AM, depending on location. As we head out of Anchorage your guide will talk about the City's history and key points of interest. Journeying north on the Glenn Highway your guide will share interesting information about the Matanuska Valley and the various communities along the way. After about 30 minutes, the natural beauty of the drive takes over as we enjoy the view of the Talkeetna and Chugach mountains and, on a clear day, the Alaska Range. The Matanuska River is our companion as we ascend to the Matanuska Glacier and arrive for your guided hike. The glacier guides will outfit you with ice spikes and helmets (in the summer); there are also hiking poles available for your use. These guides are experts in what the glacier has to offer each day, as well as its natural history. There will be lots of opportunities for great photos! After your approximately 2-hour adventure on the ice we head next door for lunch at an authentic Alaska lodge with an epic view of the glacier. 5.00That's it my vacation break , I choose the Anchorage for hike at Maranuska with Viator, and fir 1st time in my life that's hike on the ice Gracier on the top of mountain.. the Tour guide was friendly and kind so between on the road to hike she explained for the story in Anchorage Alaska, her name is Lori.. and then when I get in the National Park and I met the another Tour Guide that's he will bring me and group Tour Going up to the top of mountain for walked and hiking..his name is Tom he so nice and funny I love ❤️ that..so he explained and let's us know everything for the ice and gracier..great and ❤️ so much.. I will recommended for my friends for the Tour and great experiences with Tom for hike in Matanuska AK. 1st time of my Life .

5.00Our day tour today was absolutely fantastic! Kim, our driver, was incredibly warm-hearted and proactive—always ensuring we were comfortable and safe throughout the journey. And Sophia, our guide, was simply wonderful—so passionate, knowledgeable, and full of positive energy that made the whole experience truly engaging and memorable. The glacier views were breathtakingly beautiful—a sight we’ll cherish for a long time. We can only imagine how amazing it would be in the summer, so we’re already looking forward to coming back next year! Thank you for such an incredible experience!!

5.00Booked this tour through Salmon Berry Tours in Anchorage. It was a great tour! Great guides and wonderful experience. This was definitely a cold day, but Salmon Berry provided insulated boots and snow pants (upon request), and hand warmers. Crampons, helmets, and walking stick was also provided. The day tour included lunch at the Long Rifle Lounge. Have walked on other glaciers, but this was a new experience doing it in the winter.

5.00It was a spectacular experience walking on the glacier surrounded by snow. Thank you to Lori and Alyssa for their excellent guidance and support throughout the trip! It was amazing to see something I had learned about in geography class come to life right in front of me. P.S. Spikes and snow pants are provided. You’ll be walking for about 1.5 hours, so with good boots it’s not too cold—but your face can get very cold! A face covering is definitely helpful.

5.00Fantastic day hiking on the glacier. Lori was an excellent driver and it was very nice for everyone to be able to enjoy the day without driving. Glacier guide was very personable and knowledgeable. Great experience, would recommend.

5.00Amazing. Take the early tour! Lori and Alyssa were wonderful. Would come back and do it again. Great trip for the family. Beautiful sites. The weather was perfect. Lori and Alyssa are amazing story tellers and they know their Alaska and glacier history and facts. Definitely recommend booking 907 Tours to do the glacier hike.

5.00Best tour we’ve been on during our whole trip, and one of the best I’ve ever been on! Lori was our guide, and she also owns the company, so it felt very special. You can tell how much she loves the outdoors by the energy that she gives when sharing it with others. We thought it was a little pricey at first, but after doing research and reading reviews from other places, we were 100% sure this was the right tour to book. Worth every penny! The ride to and from the glacier went by faster than I expected; probably because of the amazing views, along with Lori’s commentary. Main event: GLACIER TIME! Absolutely amazing experience! When you get to the base camp, you’re fitted with microspikes (and snow pants/gear if needed), you then get on a sled pulled by a snowmobile until you get to the glacier itself. Sophie guided us across, around and even through glaciers and crevasses. She was so knowledgeable about the environment and her energy was contagious! There are so many tours to choose from, but I really hope you choose 907 Tours!

5.00Trekking on the very nice glacier, the girl who guided us was very professional and kind! Great lunch break, beautiful views along the way, shame not to provide a few more stops along the way to admire the landscape.
