Jeff was the best. He is very knowledgeable and has a knack for bringing art history to life. My wife and I would have been overwhelmed if we had tried to visit the museum on our own. We loved every minute of our tour with Jeff.

Our tour guide Kevin was so knowledgeable! He made sure to tailor the tour specifically for our group. We had a small group of 8 and ranged in age from 66 to 7 years old. He kept the tour lively and interesting for us all

I had an emergency that had my family running late to my MET private group tour reservation. My son got sick on Ellis Island tour and we missed our ferry back to Manhattan. I contacted the operator City Wonders at the 800 number given. I wanted to catch up with the tour in the museum once we arrived. Our ETA was putting us there 20 minutes late. At first they gave me a message saying thank you for letting them know I was running late, but I would need to be on time or the tour would commence. This I knew, and I was not disputing. I was trying to see if I could catch up with the tour inside the museum once we arrived. They stopped responding to messages after the first response, so I called. I got an operator and they said I could try showing my voucher to get in but didn’t have anything else to offer to help. So I asked the phone operator the direction the tour was taking so we could find them once we entered. She told me and I felt confident we would catch up. So I showed my voucher and the museum’s guest service attendant asked me to go stand in the group tickets line so they could assist. Once I got to the group tickets desk, they asked for the operator name. I told them it was City Wonders and they said no tickets had been left at the counter for us and the voucher was not considered a ticket. They said tour operators usually leaves the name of the party or the tickets at the desk for late parties and they didn’t have either. After explaining everything to the desk in more detail and showing my paper trail with City Wonders, he engaged a manager and they eventually comped tickets to get my family in. Then we went on the search for the tour inside the museum for about 20 minutes, but it was impossible to find them because 15 more minutes had past with museum guest services and they had nothing on to identify them as City Wonders and the route was not published. We decided to download the MET app to salvage what time we had left. I’ve never been late for a tour and I’ve always had good experiences with Viator, but this was not a good experience. The operator was definitely a, “you snooze you lose” operator. If the MET’s guest services didn’t pick up the operator’s short fall, we would not have even salvaged the day. We would have been fine to catch up with the tour, but City Wonders failed to communicate to the museums Guest Service department. The MET’s Guest Services department mentioned they welcome communication to help guests connect with their tour guide operators. I contacted the City Wonders 45 minutes before my tour to let them know what was happening and why we were running late. The guide could have left our name or our tickets and the booking could have been salvaged. Please let the operator know this! I also plan to message them myself.

The skip the line hook is misleading. We had to wait in line in the rain. everyone one in NYC wanted to go to the museum because the line was very long.
