Immerse yourself in the world of traditional Japanese art at our Ukiyo-e indigo dyeing workshop at Mount Fuji. Under the guidance of local experts, you'll learn the intricacies of indigo dyeing, known as "Nihon-ai," while creating your own hanging scroll. Choose from various shibori techniques to dye a tenugui hand towel, then apply a silk-screen print featuring Mount Fuji or other cultural motifs. This two-hour experience not only celebrates Japan's rich artistic heritage but also offers the chance to take home a personalized artwork reflecting your creativity and the beauty of Japanese culture.

This workshop is held in a facility that also houses a rescue cat space. If you have a cat allergy, please let us know in advance.
(For mild allergies: we can keep the cats in a separate room and shorten the time spent in the dyeing area if needed. For severe allergies: staff or other participants may complete the dyeing process on your behalf, or participation in the activity may need to be reconsidered.)
The indigo dye used in this workshop is very strong. If it gets on your clothing, it may not come off even after washing. Please make sure to wear the protective apron or clothing provided by the facility.
Please understand that we cannot take responsibility for any stains or damage to your personal belongings such as clothes, shoes, bags, or accessories during the workshop.

During the dyeing process, the dye may come into contact with your hands, nails, skin, or hair. It may not wash off immediately. We are not responsible for staining or discoloration of your skin, hair, nails, clothes, or personal belongings.
As irons and dryers involve high heat, there is a risk of burns. Please follow the instructions of the staff carefully.
If you feel uncomfortable handling these tools, our staff or guide can assist or perform the step for you — just let us know.
This tour is not recommended for individuals with mobility issues since we do workshop in a small facility.

If you arrive more than 15 minutes late (10 minutes before the tour start time), you will not be able to join the tour, receive a refund, or reschedule.

Shoko(Holly), Omata and Maki were very well versed in the art of indigo dyeing. They explained to us its history and origin with much detail. They were friendly and easy going, making this experience fit for everyone. The place is beautiful and has great character as well. Will definitely recommend to anyone visiting the Mt Fuji area.

Shoko-san aka Holly, Maki-san and Omata -san explained the history of indigo dying and showed us the process to create our own tie dye towel art work. Creating our own unique tie dye pattern and printing.
