The muskoxen are unique, prehistoric animals, and you can only find them a few places in the world. One of those places is Dovrefjell, a beautiful National Park in Norway.
Together with our experienced guides, it is almost 100% certain that you will see this majestic animal during our safari. In addition, our guides will share their knowledge about other wildlife in the area, as well as the local history and culture.
Dovrefjell has a rich ecosystem, and there are good chances to spot other widlife such as eagles, ptarmigan or even wild reindeer.

During this safari, you will hike with our local guides in Dovrefjell-Sunndalsfjella National Park to look for muskox. The muskox live in the mountains, so for this hike, you'll need waterproof hiking shoes and wind-/waterproof clothing. The weather can change fast in the mountains, so bring multiple layers of clothing. This safari generally lasts 5-6 hours, depending on where the animals are, weather, group fitness etc. We'll have a lunch break, so you need to bring your lunch, something to drink and perhaps a snack. The animals move freely in the national park, which makes it impossible to know how every day will be. Guests need a moderate fitness level, as hikes can be between 7 and 15 km in total, with elevation along the way. The muskoxen are wild animals and need to be respected. We therefore keep the advised safety distance of 200 m. Our guide has a telescope for everyone to use, but if you have binoculars we definitely recommend bringing them!

4.00The tour guides were super friendly and the trip was fun. It's a wonderful hike and a crazy beautiful landscape. We saw musk oxes and were really happy. However, we would have liked to have more information in advance. For example, it is preferred that people take their own car. That should be mentioned in the description, as it now says "transfer included". It was not a problem, but not communicated beforehand at all. Also, the guides seemed to be aware that due to the warm weather the muskox would most likely be deeper in the valley and that this leads to a longer trip of approx. 7-8 hours instead of 6 hours. If they knew this in advance, this information would have been good to know to plan accordingly. But still, we had a fun time!

5.00Well guided and secure trip. The hike was quite easy. We finally spotted a couple of nice Musk Ox’s very close.
