This Nagarkot Sunrise View and Day Hike to Changunarayan will excite you early in the morning with a mesmerizing view of many glorious peaks of Nepal like Mt. Annapurna, Ganesh Himal, Mt. Everest, and 8 out of 13 mountain ranges that shines in early sunrise including panoramic view of the valley and Shivpuri National Park. After such a fantastic start early in the morning, hike down to Changunarayan with beautiful nature walk amidst the forest of pine and terraced farms crossing typical and local villages of Tamang and Newar community. At Changunarayan, you will be impressed by the stone and wood carvings and sculptures of Hindu and Tantric deities which will show you the rich and old heritage of Nepal.

Nagarkot View Tower
You will start the trip to Nagarkot before dawn. The drive is about one and a half hours to Nagarkot View Point. Nagarkot is a hill station which is famous for it's sunrise and sunset view with panoramic scenery. The drive will be through the local settlements surrounded by trees. As you reach the viewpoint, grab a little spot to enjoy the magnificent sunrise over the towering Himalayas. The perspective will give you a glimpse of 8 Himalayan ranges, including many snowy peaks like Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, Annapurna, and even Mt. Everest from the point. You will observe the bright rays of sun touching the tip of mountains, turning them from bright orange and red to snowy white in color. You can also look below to find the incredible view of the valley and Indrawati river in the east. Take at the moment to observe such beautiful natural phenomena before descending to Changunarayan.
Nagarkot Hiking
With such a beautiful mountain view, the trail is filled with a forest of pines, terraced farms of local villagers and a typical small village. The nature walk is fresh and refreshing, with a beautiful atmosphere around you. You will hike peacefully within the womb of nature till you find yourself in the small villages of Brahmin, Newars and Tamang community. You will then gradually cross the path taking on the graveled road and local trail to Changunarayan.

Even in the pouring rain we had a good time!

5.00We had.a good day but unfortunately were not blessed with the weather - it poured with rain the whole time and we actually cut the hike short - this was completely our choice, Shishir our guide was more than happy to carry on but left the decision with us. It was so cloudy that we did not even see the sunrise. Our driver was excellent - the roads driving up to Nargarkot are extremely twisty and narrow but he drove very carefully and we felt safe at all times. The car was very clean and comfortable, so much so that we felt guilty getting in to it after our hike as we were so wet! Shishir was very accommodating and friendly and even took us to a cafe for drinks and a local snack near the temple as we had finished the tour early due to the bad weather. Communication before the trip was excellent so would definitely be happy to use them again.

5.00The Nagarkot sunrise was the perfect way to start the morning off with a beautiful view of the snow capped mountains and the vast valley of Kathmandu. I felt extremely fortunate to spend my day with Shishir, my tour guide, as he was nothing short of kind, friendly, and welcoming. With his expansive knowledge, I found the most rewarding part of the day to be walking and learning of the local villagers way of life. Shishir made the walk interesting, engaging and colourful with culture. I couldn’t recommend this tour enough, especially Shishir, it was definitely a highlight of my trip!!

5.00We had a great time on this walk with Madan. Making it to the sunrise and seeing the Himalayas was incredible. The walk also took us around local areas and temples. Madan was very informative and made our day a great experience. Definitely recommend this day trip and Madan.

5.00This was one of the best day trips I’ve done. Amazing, immersive experience and my guide Shishir was awesome. Sunrise, traditional Nepalese breakfast if you would like to try and an amazing hike. I loved it. Highly recommended if you have a day to explore.

5.00An awesome day hiking with great company. Was like hanging out with a local friend. Seeing the villages and temple were highlights, plenty of breaks along the way. No rush, stress free and very knowledgeable guide. Highly recommend!

5.00We had a great day with Shishir our super guide. Breakfast in a local restaurant was typical and well appreciated after our early departure. Shishir met all our expectations and taught us a lot about Nepal. Hiking is easy and allows you to see beautiful scenery with the valley below and the snow-capped mountains in the distance. We ended the tour with Changu Narayan Temple which is one of the most beautiful temples we visited in the Kathmandu Valley. The agency was very responsive almost immediately responding to our requests for information. Thanks to the whole team.

5.00Such a fantastic day. Shishir was an amazing guide and so knowledgeable and answered our never ending questions . A beautiful start at the Sunrise. A wonderful traditional local breakfast .. we were given all the options from western hotel to local. Then a slow gentle mostly downhill walk through villages and forest. The driver accompanying us was so skilled, safe and polite . Highly recommended
