Nara Park

Located in the heart of Nara City, Nara Park is a vast green space where over a thousand deer wander freely among temples, museums, and tree-lined paths. Mt. Wakakusa

Rising at the eastern edge of Nara City, Mount Wakakusa offers more than scenic beauty—it is a natural retreat where Nara’s deer escape the crowds and live in peace. Covered in soft grass due to an annual ceremonial burning, the mountain is easy to climb and perfect for a short hike. Along the way, you’ll often encounter wild deer in their natural habitat.
