Tours are usually private, ensuring a personalized experience, but smaller groups may occasionally be combined for shared adventures. A light snack is included to keep you energized. Prices vary depending on tour and group size, ranging from $15–$60 USD per person.

Explore their charming gardens, café, market, and gift shop while you are there! This is a roughly 1.5-2 hr. tour
Finca La Azotea
This is a great accessible birding option with flat and wide trails - with good chances at many specialist species like bushy-crested Jays and Band-backed Wrens. This is a roughly 2 hr. tour

Eco Farms Urban Forest Tour
Accessibility: Flat even ground and short walk means that some areas are wheelchair accessible depending on wheel type
Explore Eco Farm: part of the tour can include exploring the other side of Eco Farm, with it's gardens, café, and eco school. Birds there too!
Difficulty: very easy, short loop through urban forest plot
Duration: 2 hours: flexible
Chance to buy snacks!: Buy snacks and or a meal at Eco Farm's Buho Café or various shops
Eco Farms GT: great for casual birders! This option is short 1 to 2 hour walk through the forest plot at Eco Farms GT
Birds to Expect: This small forest plot is surprisingly full of birds, especially migratory ones. Also keep an eye out for bushy-crested jays

Santa Catarina Bobadilla
Difficulty: moderate to difficult, with some steep sections and loose / uneven footing. Best for experienced hikers. 2-4 km. trail

Santa Catarina Bobadilla: Hike up through beautiful forest and enjoy views of the volcanoes, while searching for migrating and resident birds
Birds to expect: A great place for migrating warblers and resident woodpeckers and orioles. Ask for sample bird checklists! species: 30-60/day

Finca La Azotea Coffee Farm
Accessibility: flat, wide trails mean wheelchairs could have access depending on wheel type

Duration: 2 hours: flexible tour (entry fee included in tour price)

Finca La Azotea: Perfect for a relaxed walk and exploration of the vibrant birds found in this shade-grown coffee farm close to Antigua!
Birds to Expect: Look for woodpeckers and jays among the shaded coffee. Orioles and hummingbirds are common too. ~25 species/ day

Finca El Pilar
Difficulty: moderate / difficult, depending on trails chosen. Some steep sections and steps. Always an option to stay on flat areas

El Hato / Earth Lodge Tour
Explore Earth Lodge: explore the beautiful Earth Lodge, with a delicious restaurant, stunning views, yoga, and lodging. Great option to end tour
Difficulty: moderate, some steep sections but generally a smooth trail without rocks or uneven footing. 2-4 km. trails
Duration: 5 hours: flexible

El Hato: explore the birds and trails of El Hato, a small town perched above Antigua that affords stunning views of the volcanoes
Free Shuttle at 8am: free shuttle up to El Hato at 8am from meeting point, down at 12:30 pm. Or private car (not included) for earlier start!
What birds to expect?: El Hato is a prime spot for Northern Emerald Toucanets, tanagers, warblers, and raptors. Species numbers for a day: 30-60

5.00Our family had a wonderful time with Marty as our guide in el Hato. He is super knowledgable, and led us on a trek to a place we never would have found on our own. We ended up with a huge list of birds in our morning outing, including many lifers, while also learning a ton about the local area and natural environment. He was excellent with our 3.5 year old son, who was rather impatient at times, to make sure we really maximized the trip and had a lot of fun at the same time. He kept an e-bird list for us and shared it right away, along with capturing tons of great photos of the birds we saw as well. Highly recommend you reach out to him if you want a really personable, fun, and productive birding outing while around Antigua!

5.00I’ve used a lot of birding guides over the years and for a young guy Marty is exceptional. Really excellent at bird calls and identification. Completely bilingual and knows his local ecology. Would recommend him in a second.

5.00Superb experience. we saw almost fifty species of birds including super memorable ones like the woodpeckers in these pictures and toucans, swallows, doves, vultures, hawks, thrushes, warblers, jays, mockingbirss, thrushes and hummbingbirds which I couldn't photograph(I was using my phone)! the trail is FULL of birds so you are guaranteed to see some cool ones especially with the expert and friendly guidance by Marty who is very knowledgable and observant and will point out all the cool birds you miss to you. Free shuttle up and back from Antigua, and a very short ride. Highly recommend!! He also brings extra pairs of binoculars!

5.00I’ve used many birding guides over the years and for a young guy Marty’s birdsong recognition and identification skills are top notch. An added bonus is that Marty understands the ecology of the area in which you’re birding, as well as being completely bilingual. If you’re interested in birding in Antigua, Marty’s your guy.

5.00Such a great morning out in nature! Marty was a wonderful guide, knowledgeable and fun. We had a chance to see some "new-to-me" birds to add to my list! As a newer birder, it's nice to get a chance to explore and learn more from someone who's patient and informative. Highly recommend!!
