We're just remembering that exactly one year ago, on November 1st, 2024, we took a tour with Ethos, but never wrote our review. We'd like to rectify that now. We booked a half-day tour with lunch with a local family through Ethos for our family of four – our two young sons (4 and 2 years old). We'd like to thank them all again from the bottom of our hearts! What for a great memory! We all thoroughly enjoyed the tour and meeting the locals. Cha was our tour guide and did a fantastic job. She showed us the area and explained aspects of their way of life, agriculture, and plants. She lovingly crafted little animal figures for our children, patiently answered all our questions, and acted as a friendly liaison between us and the family we were visiting. She was very approachable and friendly. There were absolutely no communication problems. Also the family was very kind and interesting to meet. The food we prepared together was super delicious. The information session before the hike was also very informative. While my husband and I listened, young women from the team lovingly looked after our two children. That was really wonderful. We would book another tour with Ethos anytime and had a wonderful and very interesting experience overall. Many thanks to everyone!

We just finished finished our 2 days trek with Maysieu and we are blown away ! She shown us the way around the different village of the black Hmong community while also walking in more adventurous path ! She explained the traditional herbal medicines used, their benefitd and also a vast knowledge around rice culture. I highly recommand the herbal bath ! You will be immersed in a hot bath with herbs collected and cooked during your trip. We we warmly welcommed in her familly and shared a delicious meal to close the day. Ethos explained how the experience is included in the contexte of today’s Vietnam and the different northern communities. They made sure everything went smoothly. I felt that I was at someone’s home helping me to spend a meaningful time in Sapa and not an agency.

Really amazing and eye opening day out with Ethos walking through one of the nearby valleys, exploring the fields and villages. Very welcoming team, great guide (thanks My!) and very warm local Hmong hospitality for lunch. Our favourite day in Sapa, kids loved it as well.

We have just finished a one day trek and we’re absolutely blown away. Everyone at Ethios was amazing. You can tell the founders well and truely have a different vision for tourism. This was the most comfortable I have felt on a tour but also felt like we were genuinely giving back and helping the community. We met local people, our tour guide was from a local village and made our trip. She was very knowledgeable and spoke great English. The views were out of this world.

I don't know how to thank Ethos for the experience my friends and I had while immersing ourselves in the Hmong community in Sapa. Welcoming by the whole team was amazing, considerate, kind and warm. The trek we did accompanied by our wonderful guide My through the beautiful rice fields of Sapa was always adapted to our needs, My introduced us to his community gently, was able to answer our many questions. We are full of gratitude for the opportunity to participate in the daily lives of the people we meet, welcome them into their homes, cook with them and discover their daily lives, all in an ethical and always respectful way thanks to My our guide. We recommend Ethos with our eyes closed, to get out of tour operators sometimes not respectful of populations, for its ethics, patience and the kindness with which this agency has received us and the way it takes care of the Hmong community. Thanks again for everything. Mary, Michael 1, Michael 2, Adri 1, Adri 2, Sarah and Alice

My partner and I completed a combined overnight Buffalo trek and Muong Hum market tour with Ah, then a one day herbal trail trek with herbal bath with Mai Lin. Both were outstanding experiences. The Buffalo trek had amazing views and Ah was really interesting and informative. We learnt so much about Black Hmong people and their way of life. Lunch and dinner in a local home were both absolutely delicious (and so was the rice wine). The trek was challenging enough, but also slow and steady enough to take plenty of photos and ask questions. Watching the ride fields being harvested was definitely a new experience. My partner offered to carry one of the 50kg bags to the motorbike and it really put into perspective how hard they all work! The nights accommodation in a local home is very basic but it was what we expected. We both slept well and were comfortable. The market was interesting but a bit quiet due to the rice harvesting having just begun. Still great to walk through and try different foods. The herbal trek with Mai Lin was on an overcast day so unfortunately we didn't get as nice of a view. It was still really interesting learning about all the different uses of herbs for medicine. We helped pick herbs for our bath and had a delicious lunch in a Dao home. It was interesting to see the differences in how they live compared to the Hmong. Overall we couldn't be happier with our experience from start to finish. They organised a car to pick us up from Lao Cai station, to having breakfast and a shower at the community centre. Hoa and the team are amazing and should be proud of all their hard work in the community. Oh, and don't forget to check out their little store- we got some of our most beautiful souvenirs from there.

This is an absolutely incredible experience and a must-do for anyone visiting Sapa. The entire Ethos staff along with my guide were incredibly kind, helpful, and informative. This is a rare, authentic opportunity to experience the culture of Vietnam’s ethnic minorities. You get to experience the beauty of Sapa from the point-of-view of those who make it so.

Two days, two walks, wonderfully tailored to our requirements. First, we were welcomed by Hoa and her team and given a very professional summary of what to expect and what to be careful of. The highlights were our two guides LaLa and May Linh and the two families they introduced us to. We felt privileged to get a little insight into there lives and enjoy the fabulous lunches they served us. Other highlights were the very different farming methods and scenery that we experienced during our well curated two half days of walking. .
