First early start for us 5.30am to get ferry. Our 6.30 ferry in the end left at 7.30am. You are sat downstairs for the 45 minute crossing and it is hot and sweaty with no room to move. We were met by our guide who was lovely but the first thing you notice is the rubbish everywhere. We walked to the car park and the floor was covered in rubbish. We set off and the roads are something to behold. The pot holes are like craters in places. You do spend a lot of time in the car travelling to the places of interest on the tour which are beautiful. The rock formation of the point that looks like a dinosaurs back is amazing but in my view going to be spoilt by the building of a giant elevator from the top viewing point to the beach below. It is going to ruin such a beautiful spot. Lunch was lovely but limited choice on the set menu. In the afternoon we visited crystal bay where you get time on the beach. It was nice but I have visited nicer beaches before. Ferry back was 45 minutes late and again you are crammed in. You have to pay to use the toilets so make sure you take some 5000 notes with you. We are glad we did the trip but thousands of visitors daily so it can get very very busy.

Our driver to and from our Sanur hotel was excellent, efficient and personable. The highest praise to him. The Nusa Penida guide discouraged walking at Kelingking Beach, saying it would take too long, and would not give us enough time at the other location, but then discouraged swimming at Crystal Bay. We ended up taking an early ferry back. The lunch was mediocre.

You need a guide who knows how to navigate the difficult road system and still have the patience and flexibility to give their guests a top notch experience. We were fortunate to have such a guide.

This one day trip it’s what you are looking for. Tour guide at Penida reaching all the spots in perfect timings, and let you enjoyed it at your own peace. It’s a really nice and organized team, Candra and the guys really make our experience a fun, safety and comfortable one to not forget.
