This unique tour of the Panama Canal goes from the Pacific to the Atlantic ocean as you see the canal from the water and by foot. An exciting boat ride down the canal will introduce you to the transiting ships as well as the abundant wildlife on its shores, followed by a visit to Fort San Lorenzo and the new Agua Clara Locks.
This is not a TRANSIT tour, we wont travel by boat inside the locks.

This tour begins with hotel pickups starting at 6:10am. I know it sounds crazy to get up so early on your vacation, but you will thank me for it later. Starting this early we can beat the crowds and see more wildlife in cooler temperatures.
Panama Canal
We will ride along the waters of the Panama Canal right next to the ships passing through on their way to the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Our destination is Gatun Lake, where we will cruise around islands created during the canal construction and see the abundant wildlife on its shores.

5.00My wife and I had an absolutely amazing experience on the Ocean to Ocean tour with Alonso, the "Professor". Alonso's vast knowledge of Panama's rich culture and history is unsurpassed. His easy-going personality and overall presentation regarding the construction of Panama's original canal, as well as the expanded new canal and the operation of the canal locks made the tour extremely interesting and informative. If we were able to give more stars we would certainly do that! Many thanks for an adventure we will never forget.

5.00My husband and I went with a friend. Excellent tour! Alonzo was our guide and he was very knowledgeable, friendly, approachable, went out of his way to keep his tour guests happy. His English is great too! The tour itself was fun, interesting and split up into three different areas. This made the trip stimulating and informative! I highly recommend this tour!

5.00We have taken this tour five times over the past eight or ten years. We enjoy taking family and friends who visit us here on the tour as a way of giving them a nice introduction to Panama’s natural beauty, its wildlife and flora, its history, and, of course, its Canal. Our most recent experience was very nice. We noted some things that had changed since our last tour in the spring of 2000, just before Covid. Formerly one could feed the monkeys on the islands. Now it is not permitted. It is better for the monkeys and doesn’t diminish the experience, though, since you still get to see lots of monkeys and other wildlife close up and have the experience of boating alongside the ships transiting the canal. Another difference is that Fort Lorenzo, which used to be visited by few tourists, has become better known. It has a new visitors’ center with bathrooms which is a nice improvement. The highway from Colon, which used to be a pothole-strewn obstacle course, has been repaved, making the trip from Colon much faster and more comfortable. The downside of these improvements is that the site isn’t as peaceful and secluded as it formerly was. It is still a wonderful historic site situated on one of the most beautiful natural spots in Panama, however. The final difference we noticed is that lunch, which used to be a very nice picnic lunch, is now a hot, typical Panamanian lunch. It, too, is very nice. Panama Day Trips does a great job of providing a very enjoyable and educational experience at a reasonable price. If I have any criticism it is that I miss the morning coffee that they used to serve on the bus on the way to Gamboa. There is coffee available at Gamboa at the bathroom stop after the boat ride but I would have preferred the old system - a minor quibble, however. I highly recommend this tour.

5.00We really enjoyed our trip!! The guide was friendly and knowledgeable about every part of our journey. We saw a large container ship and a smaller ship while we were on our boat seeing Monkey Island on Lake Gatan and then saw them both go through the locks at the Atlantic side. The smaller one went through the old canal and lock system ( you can’t see the old canal locks from the visitor centre but can see most of the ship) and the container ship through the new canal right in front of us!!! Lunch was very good and we enjoyed Fort San Lorenzo and Monkey Island. We would have liked to have time to see the video presentation at the canal but chose to watch the container ship. We would highly recommend this tour.

5.00Excellent tour with a great tour guide. Loved every stop we made and the lunch was very good. Highly recommend this tour to see more of the country of Panama. Just know that there will not be a bathroom break for about 2.5 hours!
