Here’s a polished review you can use or adjust: ⸻ We had a wonderful experience on this day trip. The team was extremely professional, well-organized, and very caring throughout the whole tour. My parents speak very little English, but the guides were patient and made sure they felt included and comfortable the entire time. Because of their kindness and professionalism, my parents were still able to enjoy the trip and had a lot of fun. Highly recommended!

John was a very informative and friendly tour guide. Pick up was prompt and John explained the need for the early pick up, traffic! As we drove over the Centenario bridge we got our first good glimpse of the Panama Canal at the Culebra Cut. We boarded a small boat for our trip out on the canal at Gatun Lake. We passed close to ships transiting the canal. We slowly cruised around the Monkey Islands. Here we were fortunate to encounter iguanas, bats, Howler monkeys, Capuchins and Geoffroy’s Tamarins quite close. We also had view to numerous birds including herons, egrets, snail hawks, black hawks, toucans, osprey, ganioles and others. We briefly stopped for a bathroom and refreshment break at Gamboa. We then continued our journey across the isthmus to Colon and on to Fort San Lorenzo. Here we were treated to an informative tour by John and had ample opportunity for photos. Our guides provided us with a tasty lunch under the mango trees at the fort. At San Lorenzo we saw Coatis and agoutis roaming the grounds. Due to moderate rainfall the previous day, the road became impassable and was closed. Our scheduled stop at Agua Clara locks had to be rerouted to Miraflores locks. They don’t call it the rain forest for nothing. We arrive just in time to view a ship transiting the Miraflores locks and the IMAX film about the canal soon after. Our hosts took great care of us and ensured we had an enjoyable experience.

I signed up for the tour so I could see the lake in the canal up close and the new locks on the Caribbean side. I didn’t know beforehand that I would be able to see so much wildlife. There were species that I didn’t know about. I was waiting for the voice of David Attenborough. Instead the excellent tour guide, John, had found the perfect boat captain. The captain knew so many different calls for a few different species of monkeys. It was worth getting up so early to see the monkeys up close moving around in the morning. I liked seeing so many different kinds of cute birds that I already forgot the names of. I enjoyed the trip to the new locks to see the bigger ships up close. The little boy in me enjoyed feeling like a little ant in amazement. John even made sure that we saw a ship in the lower locks before it left and came back up to the top lock. I wouldn’t have known that we could do that. The lunch in the jungle near San Lorenzo was great. I was surprised since we were so far away. I liked the Arroz con Pollo. Everyone thought it was delicious.

It was a long day but well worth the trip. Lake Gatun where all the large vessels have to pass thru to transition from pacific and Atlantic Ocean. We get to see all the animals, sloth, different kind of monkeys (that came on the boat to check us out), miniature bats, toucans, Panamanian raccoons, iguanas . Lunch was great. The tour guy is very knowledgeable. The canal was amazing. We get to see the transit of several vessels.

If you only have time for one activity in Panamá make it this one. Coast to coast gives you amazing views, great wildlife, an exciting boat trip in amongst the monkey islands. And loads of interesting information. We got picked up right outside our hotel promptly by John who is incredibly knowledgeable about all things Panamanian. The mini bus was well driven and in lovely condition we were kept cool with ice cold water and a very efficient air conditioner in the van. It’s an early start for this trip but we got to see some fab wild life up close because of this early start plus it was cooler on the water during the boat trip. Lunch is a traditional Panamanian dish which was very tasty and there was plenty of it. We had it overlooking fantastic views at lovely picnic tables with very clean restrooms. John is very knowledgeable giving us loads of fantastic information about the history, current day, building of the Canal and the wonderful tropical forest and its wildlife. We had a wonderful time thank you John and your team for looking after us so well and giving us a fabulous trip from coat to coast
