5.00One of the best experiences in Oslo! Andreas is super knowledgeable and full of fun and interesting anecdotes throughout the hike. The views were perfection! The waffles even more so! If you're looking for something literally off the beaten track, this is the thing to do. We had stunning sunny weather which offset the snow and slush on the walk and could not have been more thrilled with the whole experience. Make sure you have water proof shoes as there are multiple areas where little creeks are crossing the walking area. Andreas is one of the most lovely, organised and knowledgeable guides and we were super impressed with thw tour! Thank you for having us, Andreas and Troll Tours!

What truly made the experience exceptional, though, was our guide. Incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate. 5.00My highlight of my Oslo trip. The hike was lovely through a snowy forest. Andreas has spikes and sticks for everyone who wants them, although you can also bring your own of course. A lot of information about Norway history and folklore, al presented with much laughter. The waffles at the frozen lake were perfect. One participant of the group was lactose intolerant and he even made an option for her too! You can definitely feel Andreas is a cook with passion! If I'll ever be back in Oslo I'll definitely come back again!

5.00We had an amazing guided tour in Oslo — without a doubt the highlight of our trip! The views were absolutely stunning, with plenty of picture-perfect moments along the way. Our guide, Andreas, was very enjoyable and shared lots of interesting facts and stories. On top of that, we got to enjoy some delicious local food, which made the experience even more memorable. Everything was well organized, relaxed, and enjoyable from start to finish. I would highly recommend!!

5.00If you are visiting Oslo and have a little time to get out of the city, I cannot recommend this experience enough. It ended up being one of the highlights of our entire trip, and that is largely thanks to Andreas. From the moment we met him it was clear how passionate he is about what he does. This isn’t just a hike. Andreas shares so much insight about Norwegian culture, traditions, outdoor life and the local philosophy of friluftsliv (“life in the open air”). It genuinely feels like you’re learning how Norwegians experience nature rather than just walking through it. The hike itself is very accessible. It’s beginner friendly and you don’t need to be an experienced hiker. There are a few steeper sections as you climb into the hills, but they are short and manageable and the pace is relaxed so everyone can enjoy the scenery and stops along the way. Andreas also provides all the equipment you need, which makes it really easy to join even if you’re travelling light. You don’t need anything too technical clothing-wise. Someone on our tour was even wearing Uggs. That said, I would recommend decent boots, Timberlands or walking shoes as the snow can get quite deep in places. What really makes the experience special are all the thoughtful extras Andreas adds along the way. During the hike he stopped and served hot chocolate and Kvikk Lunsj (a classic Norwegian hiking chocolate), which was perfect in the snowy forest. Later he built a fire in the snow and made fresh waffles over the flames, served with jam, sour cream and Norwegian brown cheese. Sitting around a fire in the middle of the forest eating warm waffles was honestly one of those travel moments you don’t forget. And then, just when we thought the experience was over, he surprised us with a final sweet treat. A raspberry cream dessert infused with alcohol that he explained is rarely served and has links to Norwegian royal tradition. Such a unique and thoughtful finishing touch. A couple of practical tips for future visitors: The hike starts up at Frognerseteren but ends further down the hill, so you don’t return to the exact same point. It’s very easy to get back into the city though. If you’re coming from central Oslo, get a 24-hour Ruter Zone 1 ticket. It’s around £10 and gives you unlimited travel for the day, including the beautiful metro ride up into the hills and your journey back into the city. Andreas goes above and beyond in every way. The scenery is beautiful, the experience is authentic, and all the little details he adds make it feel really special. Highly recommended if you want to experience a different side of Oslo.
