The hike up to the crater of Vesuvius requires a good level of general fitness. The walk is uphill at a 14 degree angle and takes roughly 20 minutes.

We absolutely loved this tour . it was just the right size tour of about 40 people on a smallish bus. Patricia was our guide from city wonders and we did Pompeii highlights divided into two groups of 20 which was just right . Next we drove to a beautiful restaurant on Vesuvius for pizza and pasta , and afterwards hiked Vesuvius. It was a great day! Patricia was awesome!,,,, and Luka was our bus driver , he did a masterful job on small mountain roads.. . They did an amazing job of giving folks a beautiful day . We even had a medical emergency in our tour group and it didn’t ruin the trip.. They provided an ambulance when the person was unwell., spoke Italian with the medics, kept in close touch w hospital and had someone local who spoke English go pick them up at the hospital so they could rejoin the group to go back to Rome at the end of the day! It was pretty phenomenal service for those folks —-and the rest of us had a great time too! Take this tour!

Getting to Pompeii from Rome and back was very smooth - easy meeting point, organized guides, and an excellent driver. Local guide on-site was very informative. The only downside we experienced was the city was emptied of all of the casts of people that we saw last time we visited. We brought our older teens from half a world away and were disappointed by that - as were several in our group. Because by the time I asked, the guide said “they are too far away from where we are and you’ll never make it back to the bus in time.” The guide could have worked that in if she chose to prioritize it - or even ask the group. But we left only seeing the one cast in the museum. But what the guide DID show us was very interesting and she was obviously very knowledgeable.

Anna was an excellent travel representative throughout our trip to Pompeii. She was very knowledgeable about the history of Rome, Pompeii, and the surrounding areas of Italy, and she shared information in a way that was both interesting and entertaining. Anna was also funny, engaging, and wonderful to listen to during the bus ride and throughout the experience. She made the trip enjoyable from start to finish and helped make the whole experience much more memorable. We truly appreciated her enthusiasm, professionalism, and knowledge. Highly recommended! Felt rushed as we moved between areas quickly.. The audio earpiece I was given didn't work. So, I couldn't hear the guide and didn't learn much.

The trip was fantastic. Everything went to time. The guide Chiara was excellent. Her knowledge and organisation was brilliant start to finish. The guide Victoria in Pompeii was also knowledgeable and gave a great tour. Lunch was far better than expected with three courses including water for the table and a whole Margarita pizza each! We even stopped on the way down from Vesuvius for a limoncello tasting at a local lemon farm which was a lovely touch to end a well worth it day. City of Wonders five stars 🤩

Every part of this trip was well organized and pieced together professionally. Anna, who ran the tour was very knowledgeable. Bus driver got us there and back in one piece. Hike up Mt Vesuvius was steeper than you might think (and I’m from the Rocky Mountain region). Be prepared for the lemon stand sales pitch. Pizza lunch was good. Did not like the independent Pompeii tour guide. Very rushed and hard to understand. The group was large, so not always able to see what she was describing because she was so far ahead.
Long day, but that’s what we signed up for.

Every part of the trip was well organized. Anna was a pro and was so knowledgeable. Only thing I’d knock down was the independent tour guide at Pompeii. She was very rushed and hard to understand.

Overall, experience was great. Anna was a great leader, kept us on track and highly organized. My only suggestion would be to do a better job of leaving on time to allow more time for the hike. It was a hard hike to do in a shorter period of time. Our Pompeii guide could have provided a better experience as well but overall a 4 out of 5.
