Train experience
Your journey includes 1st-class tickets on the Bernina panoramic red train, traveling along the famous UNESCO-listed Bernina railway.
The panoramic train runs every hour, offering the exact same spectacular route and views as the Bernina Express, but with more flexibility and fewer crowds.
For travelers who specifically prefer the Bernina Express panoramic carriage, we can arrange it upon request, subject to availability.
Please note that the Bernina Express operates only once per day, and tickets often sell out months in advance.

Tirano
Tirano is the lowest point of the Bernina train line - 429 meters. Our first stop is a charming Italian village in the Alps, a few kilometers away from the Swiss border. Tirano offers many options for a delicious lunch made out of fresh ingredients. Along our way to Tirano, our knowledgeable guide will share with you many tips about the life of the small rural population, alpine life and traditions and the local history of one of the biggest alpine valleys. See the incredible vineyards on the mountain slopes and taste a special local wine of the Alps.
Val Poschiavo
Only a 25 km train ride brings travelers from the orchards and palm trees in Tirano to the glaciers of the Bernina Pass at 2,253 meters. The valley is surrounded by 3,000-meter-high peaks on both sides, the highest of which, the Piz Palü, reaches 3,900 meters. Three climate and vegetation zones are represented here, from extreme cold and snowy to Mediterranean, which provide a wide range of agricultural products. From the top of the Bernina train line, the view over Poschiavo Valley is unbelievable.

5.00The tour was amazing, and Stefano was a fantastic guide. He was extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and made the entire experience enjoyable from start to finish. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone considering a private or small-group experience. Having done both large tour bus excursions and this smaller tour, I can confidently say the service, hospitality, attention to detail, and overall experience were far superior. It was well worth it, and I would not hesitate to book again.

5.00This was an outstanding private tour with our guide, Oleg. He met us promptly at our hotel in Milan at the scheduled time and made the entire experience seamless from start to finish. We chose this tour for our family of four because we wanted a more personalized experience rather than being part of a large tour group, and it exceeded our expectations. Oleg handled the train ticket arrangements to St. Moritz and even ensured we had window seats so we could fully enjoy the spectacular scenery along the route. When we arrived in St. Moritz, Oleg was waiting for us at the station and guided us through the charming town before taking us to a wonderful restaurant for a traditional Swiss lunch. The return journey to Milan offered an entirely different landscape, with several scenic stops along the way that made the experience even more memorable. Oleg is an exceptionally careful and professional driver, and we always felt safe and comfortable throughout the trip. His attention to detail, organization, and friendly demeanor made this tour truly special. 5.00My family of four visited Italy from Texas for a short one week vacation to celebrate our son's graduation. We truly enjoyed our private tour to sight-see in St. Moritz. The views from the Bernina train were breathtaking and certainly a once in a lifetime experience. Our guide, Oleg, was knowledgeable and kind. He helped us select traditional Swiss foods and drinks and elaborately explained details in regards to both Italian and Swiss cultures. He mentioned they offer other tours like wine tasting and tours to Lake Como which I would happily attend should I ever return. 10/10 stars, highly recommend this tour.

5.00What an amazing experience with Stefano on the Bernina Express tour. The train and scenery exceeded all expectations. It was a truly special day. On a separate note Stefano went out of his way to help and support us on some other unrelated issues we had with a hotel. Personally we appreciated everything he did for us, especially since he didnt have to.

5.00The view on the train was spectacular like nothing seen before. It is a 2 hour ride through the mountains however it felt like 30 minutes. Bring a camera. The windows on the train do slide down so there is no window glare. Our guide Stefano recommended a lovely restaurant in Switzerland. He was very accommodating and gave us plenty of time to shop after lunch. The drive to the train and home with both long but, Stefano is a wonderful conversationalist. It’s well worth it; you won’t regret the trip!

5.00We met Stefano of Abroad Tours, at our hotel in the morning. He drove us to Tirano, Italy, Bernina train station. Our party of three booked a VIP class tour to St Moritz, Switzerland. The views were stunning. We arrived at St Moritz, known as, “Top of the World”, and had a nice lunch. We window shopped at this lovely, charming upscale town. We got some Swiss chocolate before we headed back. I highly recommend a group tour or private tour with Stefano, as he is very personable, accommodating, and well versed on local Italian history, economy, commerce, culture and lore. He answered all our questions very thoughtfully. The next time I return to Italy I am going to book a private wine and cheese tour with Stefano at Abroad Tours.
