Ryogoku Edo Noren
Built in 1929, the historic former Ryogoku Station building has been fully restored, with the old façade kept intact, and now hosts this decidedly nostalgic shopping and restaurant complex opened in November 2016. Based on the underlying concept of 'enjoying Edo-style cuisine', twelve different stalls offer Edo-inspired food, drink and local products. There are also Edo-related events from time to time, so keep your eyes peeled.
Ryogoku Kokugikan
Built in 1985, this huge stadium can accommodate over 10,000 visitors. While experiencing the excitement of a sumo tournament is the best way to get a feel for this popular sport, you can also check out the hall on days when no events are scheduled. See the dramatic hanging roof that covers the ring and take photos with sumo-related props. To learn more about the history and culture of this ancient sport, on weekdays you can visit the Sumo Museum on the premises.

A once in a life time experience both ‘Ted’ & ‘Sato’ were so kind & accomodating. They went above & beyond for us & we’ll never forget such a great experience. We are incredibly grateful.

Unfortunately, my wife was ill the night before and was unable to attend the tour (I also missed it to stay with her). I totally understand the cancellation policy but it’s a shame that, due to these circumstances, we could not get any sort of refund or voucher for future use. However, having said that, my daughter went on the tour & thoroughly enjoyed the experience … the tour guide was very nice & extremely knowledgeable and the Sumo wrestler had a great presence … he was very nice, friendly & funny. All in all, my daughter absolutely loved the experience …. But my wife & I will have to wait until next time …

Very informative tour. We learned a lot about sumo wrestling and took a nice walk in local Japanese garden. Our translator was super nice and we enjoyed conversation with retired sumo wrestler. The only reason for 4 stars not 5 is the price. It was quite expensive for this kind of tour.

Recently did the walking Sumo tour with my family (all adults), and everyone really enjoyed our private tour! We learned a lot about the great sport of Sumo Wrestling while getting the VIP treatment as we walked with our guides past an actual tournament that was taking place in the arena! Our guides made the experience great, as they were very informative and patient with our requests! Thanks guys!!

We were visiting off season for Sumo. The active wrestlers headed off to an exhibition in another city on buses as we started. The retired Sumo Wrestler is not bilingual but an interpreter was provided. This was more a chance to walk and chat with a noted retired professional athlete (he was recognized and greeted by press and fans). There was no engagement with the setting of training or exhibitions. We understand cost(>$500 for 2) in busy season with a pro athlete but felt choice we made did not match our expectations. Both were lovely and our pro was open to conversation about the life in Sumo, which was most interesting to me.

My husband and I agreed that this was probably our favorite thing we did in Tokyo! We learned a lot about Sumo which was really interesting, but the added bonus was both our Sumo guide and translator were great to talk with in general. Highly enjoyed!
