Herculaneum was an ancient roman colony, buried under the same eruption of Mount Vesuvius that damaged Pompei in 79 A. D.

The archeological area is not completely escavated, but in its small dimensions it's rich in historical heritage and unique archeological findings.

Objects from the past like food, clothes, bones and wooden furniture are in a perfect state of conservation here, thanks to the particular kind of volcanic material that became stratified on the area.

The guide will show you the ancient beach, the skeletons, the houses, the villas, the shops, the bath houses, the gardens and much more to discover the ancient Romans' daily life.

There is a difference in height between the entrance and the archeological area of about 24 metres that can be done through a tunnel with steps or a bridge, and there isn't the elevator. The accessibility by wheelchair is reduced to a part of the entire area. Only small size animals are admitted, to be held in the arms all the time.

Roberta was wonderful! Extremely knowledgable and brought Herculaneum to life. I would highly recommend this tour and Roberta. We took the private tour with Roberta and started early when the park opened, which was comfortable in August when it gets very hot as the day goes on. All was great and very pleased with everything.

This private tour through the ruins of Herculaneum were absolutely breathtaking. Our guide was beyond knowledgeable and fully blew me away with how professional, and dedicated she was to showing us around. Couldn’t have spent the day better, and with no better guide! She absolutely crushed it!

Roberta was not only so knowledgeable about Herculaneum she was also so kind and patient with us when we asked questions. It was amazing and we felt like we learn so much about the history of the ruins and others that exist as well!

Precise, timely explanations, full of interesting anecdotes. It was a fantastic and pleasant day for both us adults and children. Roberta has a clear and charismatic speech. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to deepen and experience from the inside the magic of the excavations.

Roberta was amazing. She was knowledgeable, passionate, easy to understand. Her tour made Herculaneum come to life- she painted the picture so clearly that you could practically see the ancient Romans in their homes, living their lives. What an incredible experience!!! This was the best tour we’ve had, and we have toured every day of our vacation.
