We will start with a stop at the Langevin Waterfall where you will admire one of the most beautiful waterfalls of Réunion.
We will then reach Cap Méchant: the raging waves collide with the cliffs of unshakable verticality. This is where we will have lunch.
We will then take the Lava Route and cross the old cooled lava flows: we are in the heart of the volcano!
Continue on our way to discover the church “Our Lady of Lavas”, which miraculously survived a lava flow in 1977.
Then let’s end our day with a visit to Anse des Cascades: a picturesque bay decorated with many waterfalls and palm trees.

First step: the Grand Galet waterfall (Langevin). It is one of the most beautiful waterfalls on the island, probably the largest and most emblematic: a postcard that will delight you!
Cap Mechant
We arrive at "Cape Wicked". The black rocks of cooled lava flow into the blue ocean. The raging waves come up against the cliffs of unshakable verticality. You can feel all the power of nature through breathtaking landscapes - a must. This is where we'll have lunch.

We were very keen to experience the lava tunnels, and initially I had bought tickets to do this online. The meeting point was the other side of the island, so I thought I'd organise a taxi once I was on the island. In the end I had to cancel those tickets, because it was too difficult to find a taxi to get there. Also I didn't speak French (that didn't help!) & taxi's are very, very expensive. After doing a Piton de la Fournaise trip with '5A Transports', I realised that their Wild South tour also offered an opportunity to experience the lava tunnels, as an option. Thankfully, I was able to book Ludovik's Wild South tour at very short notice. He sorted out a new set of tickets for the lava tunnels for us (he seems to know all the local operators!). Therefore we got our lava tunnels experience and also a whole lot more sight-seeing in the Wild South - which really is worth seeing! Outstanding, for me, were the massive black lava cliffs at Le cap Mechant, where the lava had poured into the sea.....and standing on top of one of the old lava flows inland (a much bigger area than I had expected!) Also the waterfalls, this time coming out of a rock face as underground water (rather than a surface river or stream). (I am getting excited, just writing this!) Ludovik is a relaxed and friendly person who appears to enjoy his job of showing visitors his favourite places. He speaks perfect English and is knowlegable and enthusiastic. You get a wonderful, long day out with him (no cutting the day short or persuading you to do things which are more convenient for him, as some driver/guides do!!) I thoroughly recommend both this trip and this company!
