YehLiu Geopark

Yehliu is a cape on Taiwan’s northern coast best known for Yehliu Geopark, where sea erosion has shaped honeycomb and mushroom rocks such as the iconic Queen’s Head and Dragon’s Head. The area is mostly flat but offers little shade, so sun protection is advised during summer.

Shifen Waterfall

Shifen Waterfall is Taiwan’s most famous cascade, fed by the Keelung River, and measures about 20 meters (66 feet) high and 40 meters (131 feet) wide. Reaching the viewing platform takes about a 30-minute walk, partly shaded and crossing a suspension bridge.

Our tour guide, Vincent, is very professional and knowledgeable, and talked about history and other interesting topics in our tour. He also helped us to take some great photos. Fantastic trip from Taipei.

Our family of four (including two teenagers) booked with Yolo Taiwan for the 8-hour “Private Tour to Jiufen, Yehliu Geopark, and Pingxi”—and we are so glad we did! Ben was our expert driver and tour guide and spoke English, as well as Chinese. He picked us up right from our hotel in Taipei and dropped us back there after the tour was over. As we were heading to each location, Ben provided us with just the right amount of background and history on each place we were going to. At the major sites and towns, Ben also led us to the best spots for photos and sightseeing. He made sure we had ample time to explore Yehliu, Shifen Waterfall, Pingxi and Jiufen—and even took photos of us at great spots all along the way. Thank you for a great, memorable trip, Yolo Taiwan and Ben!

Nicolas was friendly, warm and had a welcoming personality. Explained things and answered questions to a high standard. For those who are wondering he takes good pictures, both in portrait and landscape so you’ll have options. Jiufen – took me to the lovely A-Mei Teahouse and then to another lovely tea house next door, we went early so it wasn’t overcrowded, which mean it was great for photo taking (Important) as it gets mega busy later, but not all the shops were open, but enough were to get see most of them without the big crowds. Shifen Waterfall – Lovely walk to the waterfall and the waterfall itself. The area is nicer than a photo would capture. Pingxi old street/Shifen – light up the lantern. It was a cool & thing to do. I didn’t get to send up the lantern whilst on the train tracks unfortunately (some were doing it, some weren’t), only next to it which was a shame (picture wise). Some good food stalls around, but that’s it in the town. Do the lantern/food then move on. The people who to the sky lantern are experts in both taking pictures of you and videos doing the lantern. It’s quick, but then you look at the pictures and think there are lots and are all good. Yehliu Geopark – Better than I thought it would be, a good cherry on top. Tea store (optional extra) – he took me to a nice tea store in Taipei after I mentioned asked about getting good quality tea for my mum. He also would have taken me to a good street market Taipei and pineapple cake place, but we were going over the time He also helped organise an airport transfer after asked him about it. I think he said he does food tours also. He also is VERY much into his Tea, so if you are wanting to know about it, he’s a good person to ask. Would recommend and would be happy to use Nicolas’s services again next time in Taiwan.

Did a private tour with Vincent as our English speaking guide. The tour was exactly as described. Our group of 7 was multigenerational with 2 elders and we all felt Vincent geared the tour based upon our interests, stamina, preferences. Vincent was very knowledgeable, professional, and on time.

Vincent was a great guide! I was travelling with a family of seniors and he adjusted the tour to a comfortable pace, making the entire experience enjoyable and manageable for everyone. In Jiufen, he even guided us through an alternative route that avoided the long stairs and led us to a charming coffee shop called Chliv — a thoughtful detour that made the visit even more memorable. We also had lunch at a traditional tea house and even got to experience a tea ceremony. We ended the day at Shifen Old Street, where we sent our good wishes into the sky with the lanterns. As a bonus, Vincent took amazing photos throughout the tour that captured all the best moments.

Excellent tour, Jordan was so helpful and showed us round all the places and we had some spare time so took us to the Golden waterfall as well.

It was a great experience with the tour led by Vincent and Angel. We were travelling with 9 pax, with both elderly mum and 3 young kids. Despite a raining day, Vincent provided his best services and ensure my elderly mum was well taken care, esp with special addition arrangement to minimise the walking for her. Overall activities they had plan out were well thought through where we managed to release the sky lantern despite the weather, tasted the most tasty persimmon, excellent lunch and exploring the street of jiufen. Thank you for making great memories for my family.

We had great private tour our tour guide Nicolas Ying is excellent we had fun and enjoyed tour despite the rain Nicolas is very informative and expert on knowledge about Taiwan and places we visited . We were able to see and go to all places .We had wonderful lunch with breathtaking view and delicious food . It is highly recommended to go on these places on private tour making it possible to do it all in one day.

This tour takes you more to the Coastal/country area. It’s really good to see the contrast of this area compared to the city of Taipei. There are some really beautiful, natural, formations and beautiful nature. Our driver Aaron was helpful with whatever we needed and we really enjoyed this tour. I would recommend it.
