Wander along peaceful country paths, discover dramatic natural formations such as Il-Maqluba, and explore the historic heart of Qrendi, a village rich in character and community life. Step inside a small rural chapel filled with ex-votos — powerful symbols of gratitude and belief — and hear the stories of devotion that have shaped generations.

Pause beneath centenary carob trees for a simple coffee. After the tour one can proceed to the nearby wonders of the Blue Grotto and the prehistoric temples of Ħaġar Qim and Mnajdra.

Maqluba

Il‑Maqluba is a dramatic natural sinkhole in the village of Qrendi, formed in 1343 after the ground suddenly collapsed. According to Maltese legend, the site was once a sinful hamlet that was swallowed into the earth as divine punishment — sparing only a righteous woman. Today, Il-Maqluba is both a geological wonder and a place of folklore, surrounded by protected Mediterranean vegetation and centuries of faith-inspired storytelling, making it one of Malta’s most intriguing countryside landmarks.

Qrendi

The heart of Qrendi is a quiet, traditional village core that reflects authentic Maltese life. Centered around its main parish church and small village square, the area is characterised by narrow winding streets, limestone townhouses with wooden balconies, and a peaceful rural atmosphere. Unlike Malta’s busier towns, Qrendi retains a strong sense of community and tradition, offering visitors a glimpse into everyday village life, local festas, and the timeless charm of the southern Maltese countryside.
