A delicious and fascinating guided walking tour of the iconic Queen Victoria Market. Taste the freshest produce, discover unique ingredients, learn tips and tricks for shopping and cooking, discover the Market's history and meet some of our beloved traders. A two-hour guided walking tour includes generous tastings and a Market tote bag.

Tastings are dependent on what is fresh on the day but usually include fresh seafood, grilled peppered kangaroo, a selection of local cheese, fresh dips, seasonal gelati and more. This small-group tour is limited to 10 food-lovers per guide.

Please note that, as this is a foodie tour, we are unable to cater to individual dietary requirements.

In line with the Market's sustainability policy, we do not provide bottled water. Rather, we encourage guests to bring their own bottle and refill at our water refill stations located around the Market.

Cần Quan Tâm

Meet your small group at a prearranged spot in Queen Victoria Market. The historic landmark, whose nicknames include "Vic Market" and "Queen Vic," was established over two city blocks in 1878. Five days a week, vendors set up shop in the laneways. Organic produce bursts from crates labeled by region, and stands overflow with honey, spices, and other local goods. Pates, cheeses, and dips fill Deli Hall, also known as the Dairy Produce Hall. Around every corner, there's a sight to see, and your guide will point out details easy to miss in the bustling market throughout the 2-hour tour. While most of the market is filled with tables and stands, you can also find specialty shops. Gourmet breads are sold over at the bustling M&G Caiafa, nuts, dried fruits and grains abound. For a sweet treat, head to the American Doughnut Kitchen, where you can indulge in famous hot jam doughnut. For handmade pasta of all shapes and sizes, step into the Traditional Pasta Shop. At the end of your guided tour, enjoy a fruit platter! Sample tasting menu, subject to change: • Coffin Bay oysters • Hot jam doughnuts • Grilled peppered kangaroo • Pickled octopus • Local goats’ milk cheese • Fresh dolmades • Victorian olives Please note: Tastings are seasonal and dependent on what’s new and currently popular at the market.

During my time in Melbourne, I went to the Queen Victoria Market for a week in a row. The place here is really big, which can be simply divided into four parts: the cooked food area, the raw food area, the fruit and vegetable market and the souvenir market. There are some small shops in the delicatessen area where you can order food, and there is a place to sit down and eat on the spot. Personally, I think breakfast or lunch is very suitable. Raw food areas and fruit and vegetable markets are for guests to buy and cook food. Those meats and seafood are very cheap. I have no ideas but locals say this kind of price is cheaper than other places. There are many handmade things for sale in the souvenir market, such as: soap, skin care products, we loved it.

  • It was definitely a must visit in the Melbourne.

Our guide Daria was very great at introducing us the greatness of the traditional market. All the tastings were so delicious and all the staff were very generous about the history and the specialty of their store.

We had the pleasure of Daria as our guide around the QVM, she was such a delight and wealth of knowledge. The 2 hour food tour around the market was so amazing and as a local to Melbourne it opened my eyes and tummy to places and vendors I never knew had such incredible family history. I very much recommend this foodies tour, the amount of food enjoyed throughout is worth every cent paid and then some. I suggest skipping breakfast as you’ll last till dinner with what you sample and enjoy.

We met our guide Irene who was welcoming and friendly. She took us on an interesting visit through the market and was full of interesting information about the market and the traders. The traders were also interesting with info about their histories. Don’t have a big brekky or plan on a large lunch afterwards as the sampling was delicious and plentyful. On our tour we sampled some delicious treats including oysters, salmon, kangaroo, chicken, cheeses and antipasto. A lovely vanilla slice and donuts. What a great way to spend our Saturday mornin

There is plenty of food tastings in the market so dont eat a big brekkie or plan a big lunch afterwards. Irene our guide was very good. Friendly with lots of history and information. The stallhokders we visited were very generous with their time and samples from seafood and cheese to doughnuts and cakes Highly recommended for a morning activity.

  • Strong Cultural Insights, Weak Food Experience

The tour was very informative, offering a rich history of the markets and their connection to the development of Melbourne City. I especially enjoyed learning about the family traditions and ways of life—it gave great cultural context. The tour guide was excellent, knowledgeable, and engaging. The reason I’ve given three stars, however, is because the food experience didn’t quite live up to expectations. While the historical and cultural elements were strong, the culinary side felt fairly average.

AMAZING place! I cannot recommend it enough. One nigh per week (Wednesday) they have a night market (winter/summer night market) with lots of food choices. During most days you can visit it during the day for some fresh produce, souvenirs and much more. I highly recommend it for souvenirs as they have some nice and locally-produced ones.

Albert Park College teachers took a number of Year 10 Food Studies students on a visit to QVM. It was a fantastic experience with students learning about the history of the market, exploring the culture of the food, tasting many interesting things and they fully engaged with our excellent guides and the vendors. A thoroughly enjoyable experience which I would highly recommend to anyone interested in food and culture. Thanks especially to Bettina who made everything easy and enjoyable. Caro
