5.00What a fabulous trip. Roy had some great stories about the history of this part of the Banks Peninsula and also gave us quiet time to soak up the atmosphere and drama of sailing on the high seas.

5.00This was such an amazing experience! We saw many Hectors dolphins, seabirds and even 2 penguins. The crew was so helpful and the captain gave wonderful history about the area. The most magical moment was when our captain played music and the dolphins headed towards the boat! Highly recommend this tour ❤️

1.00We booked this cruise quite some time ago before our trip to New Zealand. I have personally visited Akaroa 10 years ago and took another cruise and saw the Dolphins so this Time hope that my family can also enjoy it. But when we show up at the departure time at the harbor, there was no boat at all, i have to call them with my roaming phone number and was told that cruise was CANCELLED!!!! they said the cancellation is due to bad weather, this was a whole LIE, that day was just perfect weather, 17th April 2024, with shining sun shine and very little breeze. I had to immediately go to BLACK CAT CRUISE to book another boat cruise, that was fantastic. This company just cancelled the trip because there was not much guests, i guess. VERY IRRESPONSIBLE company, i warn all people to take care of this and hope that will not ruin our precious vacation. I travel a lot and normally , for these companies who work for tourists, they must be responsible forntheir clients, like in Iceland , i was the only guest for a fishing trip in a small rainy day.
Informative, relaxing and enjoyable trip with a great captain.

5.00Amazing trip on a historic ketch. Informative about the history, geology and current happenings in Akaroa. Brilliant to be under sail for some of the trip too. Saw Dolphins, Seals, marine birdlife and some amazing local geography. All whilst sailing in an old volcanic crater.

5.00We got to see dolphins multiple times, as well as seals!! The area was really beautiful and the captain and staff were super nice and informative. This might have been my first time on a sailboat and it was an awesome experience. Akaroa is also generally a pretty town too and the drive down to it was breathtaking, so would also consider leaving some time to explore before or after your sailing trip.
Breathtaking! A treasured memory for us.

5.00This was an unforgettable experience and one of our most treasured memories from our trip to New Zealand! This is so much better than hopping on a large touristy motorboat! Sailboats let you experience the water in such a wonderful way. The sails filled with wind and we glided out of the harbor and into the Pacific and back again for a breathtaking ride. Hector's dolphins swam right beside us as the skipper played classical music; we spotted seals and even a blue penguin. The boat itself has a fascinating history-- it was once owned by world-renowned sailor and America's Cup winner, Sir Peter Blake. The skipper is a fountain of knowledge about the area and narrates your voyage as you pass important landmarks. I am so grateful we found the Fox II, and we'll never forget it.

5.00Beautiful 2 hour sailing trip on a 100 plus year old gaff rigged sailboat. We set out from Akaroa Harbor and motored to the opening to the Pacific Ocean. The captain played music once we were sailing to attract the Hector's dolphins which playfully swam around the boat. We also saw seals and penguins! We went out into the ocean to a natural arch. Hot cocoa was served and mimosas and other alcoholic drinks were available at a small charge. It was a memorable experience!

5.00Had a wonderful experience today sailing on the Fox II. Despite the very windy weather and rough seas, the trip was still amazing thanks to the very capable crew. We learned so much about the history of Akaroa and the stunning wildlife that make this area their home. We saw Hector dolphins, penguins, seals lazing on the rocks and sea birds completely at home in the wild conditions. The Fox II, lets you fully immerse yourself in the experience of being close to the water and part of the elements. Thank you to the Fox II Captain and crew for a very memorable day.
