San Sebastian is a food mecca! While you’re here, there are some must-visit places you can’t leave without trying - but these can be hard to find without local knowledge. On this tour, you’ll take a deep dive into the world of the city’s beloved pintxos, visiting its most famous bars where a variety of dishes awaits. You’ll learn how to navigate the pintxos scene, which will prove invaluable for the rest of your trip!

This tour is not recommended for children under 15 years of age due to busy, crowded bars and the alcohol focus of this tour. For safety and logistical reasons, guests with very young children or strollers may be refused participation in this tour

Unfortunately due to the nature of this tour it is not suitable for guests with mobility impairments or with wheelchairs, or strollers.
This tour is adaptable for: Vegetarians, Pescatarians, gluten free (not celiac), dairy free, Non-alcoholic options & Pregnant women, but please note that you may not have a replacement food option at every stop. Not recommended for Vegans.
We will be standing up in all the bars, in true Basque style.

A traditional bar awaits as your first stop of the evening. Specializing in mussels, you’ll taste a variety of these along with a Basque cider. Get acquainted with the art of pouring your drink from a height and learn about a cultural phenomenon unique to the area.

This may not be a pintxos bar – but this specialty store is full of Basque and Spanish products that are must-tries. You’ll sample some of their famous cured Iberian ham. In fact, you’ll try not one, but two varieties and get an education into the difference between them.

5.00A great few hours walking around the old town visiting delicatessen’s and Pintox Bars, drinks and foot provided. Tour guide Mila was superb, really friendly and knowledgeable and great fun to be with.

5.00This was a highlight of our stay in San Sebastián! Kristina was amazing - knowledgeable, friendly and made the night so much fun. She tailored the tastings to our liking and we came away with a much better appreciation of pinxtos.

5.00Fantastic! Felt personalised to us as we were a family. Gonzalo had great knowledge of the local places. The food choices were amazing and really opened up our pallet! We enjoyed every bite and the wine/ciders were fresh & crisp.

2.00Sorry I hate to write this but think the tour De Vour company really needs to take a look at how they do food tours. Our guide was very nice and passionate about San Seb and the culture but we were told at the very beginning we wouldn't be following the published itinerary. Very strange. This was a big disappointment bc all 4 of us in the group really wanted to try the Basque cheese cake at La Vina. She just said we wouldn't be going but going to another great dessert place. What was frustrating is that initially the group was split into two small groups and we found out that the other group went to La Vina. Another really annoying thing was that we went to one pintxos bar and then walked to the main square and then came back to the next pintxos bar ! So I guess that's how you stretch out the tour to 3 hours ! We went to a bar that wasn't even open and then had to go to another one. Again a bit of a scam and waste of time. The tour guide should either follow the itinerary or at least know which ones are actually open. The iberico ham wasn't amazing as we were hoping for/ expected. Got a nice intro to the grades of the ham but even the higher grade one we sampled lacked the acorn specs that you're supp to see in pure acorn reared pigs so it wasn't that good. Our hotel ham in the morning was better and that came with the breakfast buffet. TBH the day before we had walked into this shop the tour chose and walked out in 2 secs. Felt more like it should be at the airport instead of the Old Town. I think Unfort a lot of food tours in general tend to pick restaurants that kick them back something for bringing the tourists. Would love to find a food tour that was more genuine.

5.00Excellent introduction to pintoxs and the local area. Our guide was really good fun. Would highly recommend for anyone wanting to have more insight and confidence in the pintoxs experience. Basque cheesecake alone was worth it.! All drinks and food experiences were excellent and gave us a chance to try things we might not have ordered ourselves!!

5.00I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Gorka was an outstanding guide who provided a wealth of fascinating historical context about the Basque Country and the surrounding region. His knowledge, storytelling, and passion for the subject made the experience both engaging and informative. Having taken several similar tours in Bilbao, I can confidently say this one stood out as the best. What set it apart wasn’t necessarily the food, but the quality of the host. Gorka’s ability to bring the history and culture of the region to life elevated the entire experience. He ranks among the very best tour guides I’ve encountered anywhere, and I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to gain a deeper understanding of Basque culture and history.
