Sapa Valley Trek was formerly known as Highland Harmony Trek, the name used in many of our earlier guest reviews. The experience remains the same: a carefully planned journey through Muong Hoa Valley, one of Sapa’s most scenic and culturally rich areas.
The trek begins with a peaceful descent into Y Linh Ho, continues through Lao Chai, and ends in the quiet village of Ta Van. Along the way, travelers pass rice terraces, mountain views, forest paths, and riverside trails.
A locally prepared lunch offers a taste of H’mong hospitality and gives guests a chance to experience village life in a natural, respectful way.
Led by local guides, this trek offers meaningful insight into the culture, farming traditions, and daily life of the Black H’mong and Giay communities. It is ideal for travelers who want more than just scenery.

Muong Hoa Valley
Your journey begins with a gentle descent into Muong Hoa Valley, where stone paths wind through steep terraced hills and quiet Black H’mong villages. As the valley unfolds, rice paddies stretch across the landscape, framed by misty mountains and the flowing Muong Hoa River—setting the tone for an unforgettable day of trekking and cultural discovery.
Y Linh Ho
Tucked into the hills above Muong Hoa Valley, Y Linh Ho is a small Black H’mong village where the trek begins with peaceful views and authentic encounters. Travelers will follow narrow dirt paths along steep rice terraces, pass water buffalo in the fields, and see traditional wooden homes built into the hillside. It’s a gentle, scenic start to the journey—offering both cultural insight and a sense of calm before entering the busier villages ahead.

The trek was about 11km but the pace was just right and we never felt rushed by our guide. A van picked us up at the end of the day which was a relief after all that walking—highly recommend doing this!

The guide explained things about the villages and daily life that I wouldn’t have known otherwise. The rice terraces around Ta Van were amazing to see in person.

Walking through Muong Hoa Valley in the morning was beautiful, especially with the mist over the rice fields. Lunch at the H’mong family’s house was simple but very tasty.

Each village had its own charm, and the guide explained their histories in a way that was engaging and easy to understand. The interactions with the H’mong and Dzay people felt genuine, not forced. The landscapes were gorgeous from start to finish, especially the golden rice fields in Lao Chai. The tour was well-paced with plenty of time for photos and breaks. A great choice for anyone who wants cultural depth without a physically demanding hike.

The route was thoughtfully planned, allowing us to enjoy varied landscapes without feeling rushed. I learned so much about H’mong customs, from traditional clothing dye to their farming techniques. Our guide created a relaxed and friendly atmosphere the entire trip. The rice terraces in Ta Van were even more beautiful in real life than in photos. I left with a newfound appreciation for the ethnic diversity of Sapa.
