Miho Seacoast (Miho no Matsubara Beach)
Miho-no-Matsubara has long been known as a fantastic spot from which to view Mt. Fuji, and has even been featured in traditional Japanese ukiyo-e paintings. There are approximately 30,000 pine trees on the 7km coastline, and the sight of Mt. Fuji beyond them is one that has represented Japan over the ages. When Mt. Fuji was registered as a World Heritage Site, Miho-no-Matsubara was included as a component. On the coast there you can also find Hagoromo no Matsu, a pine tree that is said to have been visited by an angel.
Kunozan Toshogu Shrine
Kunozan Toshogu is a Shinto shrine dedicated to Tokugawa Ieyasu, who unified Japan after it had been divided by war for centuries and established the Edo Shogunate about 400 years ago. The shrine is on the 216m-high Mt. Kuno in Nihondaira, and the recommended way to get there is by ropeway gondola from Nihondaira. There, you can witness a view of Suruga Bay and all the way to Izu Peninsula from the precincts. Once you've finished paying your respects at the shrine and enjoying the buildings with their richly colored decorations, be sure to stop in the Kunozan Toshogu Museum where you can see various treasures related to the Tokugawa family, such as armor and helmets. Entrance fee to shrine building: 500 JPY/adult, 200 JPY/elementary school and junior high school student; entrance fee to museum: 400 JPY/adult, 150 JPY/elementary school and junior high school student ※Joint ticket for shrine building and museum: 800 JPY/adult, 300 JPY/elementary school and junior high school student

Shimizu When I booked for a local tour of Shimizu, Atchan was assigned as our guide. Before my family’s trip, I discussed my some of the highlights I would like to see in this city and Atchan created a custom itinerary. She was very good at communication our meeting location. When we arrived at Shimizu, it was clear day where Mt. Fuji was visible. Atchan suggested multiple viewing locations but we asked her to bring us to what she thinks is the best location since we were limited on time. I just wanted to note that she was willing to adjust our itinerary if we wanted to see additional sites. We visited temples, a shogun shrine, and the fish market at each site she provided information on tradition, history, and local customs. She kept us on time and provided us with information so we could make informed decisions on how much time we wanted to spend at each location. We enjoyed having Atchan as our guide.

Mariko planned a busy day for us, and we enjoyed every part of it-looking for Mt. Fuji and seeing the area around Shimiku gave us a perfect introduction to this area.

An excellent tour of the area led by our guide Terry. We had excellent communication before the tour and Terry organised a personalised tour for us. Nothing was too much trouble for Terry and he ensured that everyone had a brilliant time. He was very informative and knowledgeable. He went above and beyond when we had a problem with the wheelchair that one of our party uses and he even took the time to hire a special wheelchair to use on the sand at the Pine Grove without being asked. We have travelled extensively around the world and Terry is one of the best guides we have had.

It was ok but we could do the same activity without the guide but the lunch. The authentic restaurant our guide took us was the highlight of the trip.
