Start with your guide who'll meet you at Chinatown MRT, Exit A (Street level, at the top of the escalators). We head directly to Singapore’s largest hawker centre, a massive complex with more than 260 stalls. This is the ultimate stop for food lovers, offering an unparalleled variety of local flavors. What to Expect: Extensive Tastings: Sample a variety of authentic dishes, from savory mains to local snacks, experiencing the best of the UNESCO-recognized hawker culture. Authentic Vibe: Immerse yourself in the high-energy atmosphere where vendors prepare traditional recipes at a rapid pace. Walk Chinatown: Between tastings, we’ll take a short walk through the streets to see the historic shophouses and temples that define the area.
Little India
As your second stop, we move to Little India’s premier food centre with more than 100 stalls. This is the heart of the district’s culinary scene and the perfect hub to experience a wide range of local Indian favorites. What to Expect: Indian Food Focus: Sample a selection of local Indian favorites and learn about the spices and traditions that define this essential part of Singapore’s identity. Authentic Local Vibe: Experience the high-energy atmosphere of this landmark and observe the bustling activity of the local dining community. Walk Little India: Between tastings, we’ll walk through the neighborhood to see the historic shophouses, explore the wet market, and witness the craft of flower garland making.

5.00I don’t usually take the time to write long reviews, but this one really deserves it. We booked a tour with Gary through Local Local Tours, and it ended up being one of the most memorable parts of our time in Singapore. From the very beginning, it didn’t feel like a typical tour. It felt like being welcomed into the city by someone who genuinely loves what he does and cares about the people he’s showing around. Gary has a great way of sharing his knowledge without ever making it feel heavy or scripted. Everything came across naturally, like a conversation. He blended history, culture, and personal stories in a way that was engaging and easy to absorb, and somehow it all just stuck. One of the highlights for us was the food. He guided us toward dishes we probably never would have tried on our own and encouraged us, in a really thoughtful way, to step a little outside our comfort zone. I’m so glad we did. It ended up being such a fun and meaningful part of the experience, and it gave us a deeper appreciation for the culture here. It wasn’t just about eating, it was about connecting. At some point along the way, it stopped feeling like a tour altogether and started to feel like we were just out exploring with a friend. That’s not something you can manufacture, and it really speaks to who Gary is. He was also incredibly intuitive. He picked up on what we were enjoying and adjusted along the way without ever making it feel like a “customized experience.” It just felt easy and natural, and those little touches made a big difference. If you’re looking for something more personal, more genuine than a standard tour, this is it. It’s the kind of experience that stays with you long after it’s over.
