Good excursion, picked up from our pick up point and headed straight to Pompei, we were a little early so hung around for 20 minutes or so. Our guide Enzo was brilliant, very knowledable and a good sense of humour. The tour did feel a little rushed though and we didn’t get to see much of what we felt we could have seen. You’ll get an hour “free time”, this isn’t within Pompei though it’s at a cafe/gift shop for lunch which I felt was too long, I’d have rather spent it with family in the site. We then headed up to Vesuvius which was a nice drive with amazing views, you’ll get around 1.5 hours which is more than enough to walk up (15-20 minutes) take some photos and come back down. All in all a great day.

Too many people for the company to handle. English and French commentary means less quiet time. Took lot of time to organize and get inside Pompeii. I dunno if we missed any highlights. Vesuvius hike is not trivial but more info would have been useful.

Poured rain tried to contact tour operator no answer. Should be given a refund it might have been good if it was a sunny day. Would not try and climb Mt. Vesuvius in the rain

This is an easy way to get to see Pompeii and Vesuvius all in one day. Tour basically includes comfortable bus transport to Pompeii, Pompeii tour guide, and then transportation to Vesuvius base area and return trip home. Tour was organized and worked as planned. The Pompeii guide is provided by Pompeii- only certified archaeological guides can give the tour, so this experience is more about organizing the transportation and getting you from point to point. The Pompeii tour was only about 2 -2.5 hours long so if you want to spend more time in the park, this might not be the tour for you. Pompeii is huge and impressive but our guide hit enough of the main areas to give us a good feel for the site and understanding of its history and development. There is a bit of downtime to this tour though- i think we spend easily 1.5 hours at the site in the am waiting for the tour guide and again for a (terrible but quick) cafeteria style lunch before heading to the mountain. But it is designed to get you to the park early and beat the crowds- there were long lines to enter after 10am. The Vesuvius hike is breathtaking- climb is steep but the trail is not hard- its a wide, well marked dirt path - and the view is unbelievable. If you want a hassle-free way to do both- this is a great way to do it. And both sites are not to be missed if you're in the area!!! Beware of weather though- if Vesuvius is covered in clouds you may not see as much- thankfully we were lucky and had a beautiful, sunny and clear day.
