The weather was great, the trip was awesome. Our guide took lovely photos of us and some very artistic photos of the snowmobile and scenery. I think he would have been a photog if he wasn't a guide 😂 we were well-suited up for -30deg so we didnt feel that cold and the duration of the trip was just enough for both of us to ride the mobile and not feel too tired. The photos I've uploaded were all taken by Michiel (our guide). We were wearing so much you can't tell who's who 😂😂😂

Unique experience, challenging (for an Australian senior!), once in a lifetime to stand on the point where three countries meet. Snowmobiling on a frozen lake - no words for it! Jonas and Meda were fantastic, patient and interesting guides.

We went on the "Chasing Lights" "Snowmobile Adventure" We were lucky enough to reunite with our Big Bus Chase guide Nelson for our snowmobiling experience. He is always high energy, attentive & caring. On this trip, instead of playing & taking care of a little kid which we saw him do for hours on our aurora tour, he kept the snowmobiling group's atmosphere light & fun with his enthusiasm. And, during lunch. Nelson made it a point to include everyone in the conversation including those that were sitting by themselves. As for clothing the tour provides you with enough winter gear to cover you literally from head to toe. They give you a thick jump suit, socks & shoes, helmet, gloves, head / face covering. The clothes were great and kept us warm & dry. I even made snow angels in the outfit and barely felt the cold of the snow. Underneath all the gear they provided I wore thermals (top & bottom), thin snow pants and a vest. I left my winter jacket on the bus. I will say that you will need your jacket for the informational part of the tour because you'll be standing around a snowmobile outside for ~15 minutes to discuss the operation of the snowmobile. The snowmobiling itself was very fast & fun. I've only driven a snowmobile 1 other time and it took me a little while to get used to controlling it while keeping an eye on following Nelson's tracks and also keeping a good distance between the snowmobiles. I asked my GF who was riding with me to look behind us & ahead of us to do a 5 second count every once in a while to double check that I was keeping a good distance. I found that turning the snowmobile required some physical effort, though luckily most of the trip was a straight line. It was cool to see the Three-Country Cairn, the border marker where Sweden, Norway and Finland meet. We also saw 2 female reindeer just as they were starting to walk across a frozen lake. And, as our bus was pulling into the snowmobiling facility, we were super excited to see polar stratus clouds (PSC) shimmering brightly in the sky. Seeing PSC was one of our wish list items to see in Norway but we knew how rare & unlikely it was. So we were aware of how lucky we were to be able to enjoy the beautiful sight nearly the whole time we were riding snowmobiles.

If you are reading this you are probably a major researcher like me! I’d always wanted to do snow mobiling somewhere really snowy and this trip didn’t disappoint. I went round in circles trying to decide whether to do this trip to Finland or whether to do the Lyngen Alps options. I decided upon this one as the thought of Lapland was too good to pass up. Funnily enough the snow had been lacking in Tromso the week we came so I was concerned although didn’t need to be. The location of this trip was still really deep in snow. Our collection was really smooth. We scoped out the bus station the day before to make sure we were clear where to go with it being such an early pick up. I’d recommend doing the same if you are driving like we were. We figured out where to park the day before too. We parked at Lagnes Gate 1 carpark. Bear in mind parking is expensive in Tromso centre. We were staying in an air b n b in Kavaloya so drove quite a bit during our stay. The drive to the snow mobiling centre was just over 2 hrs. The views were stunning en route. I thought it was a really good way to see the mountains and Fjords on the way. It was snowing too but the drive never felt unsafe. We got there and got changed. Make sure you are really warm. Get the thermals on and lots of layers. I wore leggings with ski pants, thermals tops with layers on top and a gilet. It was minus 8 the day we went! They provide you with a snow suit that is quite roomy, boots, socks (that go over yours), mittens (that go over your gloves) and a helmet. We wore snow goggles too and some were in sunglasses but you didn’t have to do this if you didn’t want as the visor on the helmet was sufficient. The surroundings were like something out of a film. Thick snow and mountains as far as the eye can see. We were really blessed with a clear day and good conditions. I think they tailor your route according to the weather. My partner drove our snow mobile and we didn’t swap. I was happy with this. There was lots of single riders too in couples and people there solo so don’t be intimidated if you are travelling solo. We all got split into small groups. Joakim was our guide. He took us a bit faster on a huge snowy lake initially over to a stunning mountain range where the borders met. My partner climbed up onto the world’s smallest island where borders met which was quite amusing (have a go!) Joakim then took us off to a more tree filled bit where we had lunch. The lunch was actually really good which I didn’t expect at all. It was an Asian type curry with rice mixed in. It really was delicious. Compliments to the chef! It tasted homemade but not sure. My partner is a coeliac too and he could eat it and loved it. Joakim then took us up to a higher bit near the sacred mountain where it looked a bit like a snowy dessert. Then gradually back to base. We really loved the route and thought it was varied and picturesque. It wasn’t all slow like other reviews eluded to and we felt like there was chances to get a bit of speed in on the frozen lake. We were happy with the levels of stops for pictures/combined with driving time and found it just right. I think we did get lucky that day though due to the conditions. Overall we had a great day and went home very happy. We did the husky trip a couple of days before and thought it would be hard to beat but we thought this was comparable and equally enjoyable. I was pleased I chose this over the Lyngen Alps. The girls who hosted on the bus coming out were excellent and very friendly and Joakim was an excellent guide. He made the effort to talk to everyone in our group at one point or the other. He was a great host and we loved the route. 10/10 day.
