The Icelandic Highlands is a unique area with some rugged landscape and that is exactly where this tour takes you. This 4-hour snowmobile adventure tour departs from Gullfoss. Marvel at the Icelandic scenery during your ride to the glacier in a 4x4 monster truck, then hop on your snowmobile after a brief instruction lecture and drive along and on-top of Langjökull glacier. Perfect for the independent traveler which just happens to be in the Golden Circle and wants to add a little extra to their sightseeing tour.

Meet us at Gullfoss Café and come with us for a snowmobile ride on Langjökull, Iceland’s second-largest glacier. We’ll pick you up at the meeting point and drive you up to our glacier basecamp in a specially modified mountain truck, crossing rugged highland roads and open mountain scenery along the way (when visibility allows). It can already feel like an adventure before the snowmobiles even start. At our basecamp, we’ll provide all the necessary gear you need and give you a safety briefing on how to operate the snowmobile and what to keep in mind out on the glacier. Then we head off for a one-hour snowmobile ride across a wide, snowy landscape that feels a world away from everything else. We stop during the ride for photos and a chance to enjoy the views and fresh glacier air. It’s a fun and memorable way to add something special to your Golden Circle day if you have a rental car or if you're staying in the area. After the tour, we return to Gullfoss. Please arrive 10–15 minutes before departure.

Good place but unsupportive staff

3.00The experience of snowmobile is good and the location is great. However the staff is very adamant and non accomodative. We had booked for 7 people and 1 person was not well but they did not allow us to cancel the activity. Also the staff was playing among themselves and did not help the member for even for small round. You should do this activity with some other agency which is supportive and has good staff.

5.00Excellent equipment/clothing they provided did the job. The staff were very friendly and gave good instruction. They were also very patient with those less competent (not me) The driving can be tiring though.

5.00Booked with Viator. Best thing we did on our 8 day trip to Iceland. But reading the other reviews, I will say we had everything going for us: perfect weather (sunny, temps in the high 30's), everyone on time, small group (about 12 snowmobiles), and everyone driving the snowmobiles was sober and ready and willing to keep up. There were no flips or accidents on our trips. And we kept what was to me a very good pace! My husband started out driving , I was going to switch with him at the half way mark. I realized less than 3 minutes in I was too much of a scaredy cat to drive that fast so I let him drive the whole time, which I think was wise! At the end the guide complimented us and told us were were a good group: "Everybody kept up!" So the moral of the story is, don't drive if you can't keep up! It is pricey but really when are you going to have a chance to snowmobile on a glacier again? I think the length of the trip was perfect.

5.00We had this experience in early May, probably not the ideal time. I must say that it was still very pleasant and fun. Very impressive route to get to the base camp (from the parking lot of Gullfoss about forty minutes). The equipment provided was suitable and well maintained. The snowmobile ride takes about an hour with a stop (to change the driver if desired). The landscapes are really beautiful.

5.00Very fun experience! Highly recommend this tour. When you get up there, you can’t even see the line between sky and snow, it was all white. Very unique experience! My dad is 70 years old, and he loved it!

4.00Confusion from ticket—thought we bought two tickets to ride separately but had to pay EXTRA upon arrival. Frustrating miscommunication. The directions given by group snowmobile leader was brief and not explicit enough. People struggled and it limited my experience.

5.00By far one of the coolest excursions I’ve ever done in my life! Edgar was our driver and guide and he was fantastic. Very funny and kind. We were lucky since it wasn’t a bad weather day so we got to enjoy the excursion and the beauty of the snow filled landscapes. Highly recommend this excursion if you are visiting.
