Our rigorous Sunset Desert Jeep Tour is a bumpy off-road sightseeing tour through the scenic Jeep trails of the Tonto National Forest, north of Scottsdale, Arizona.

Experience a world-famous Arizona sunset (weather dependent) as our professional tour guides teach you about the Sonoran desert flora, fauna, and Native American history. At sunset, we will stop at our panoramic lookout point overseeing the historic Great Western Trail.

This is a public tour (not private). Public tour vehicles: Modified open-air vertical-row (sideways) seating Jeep Gladiator (14 seats) and Jeep YJ (7 seats).

Total duration of this tour ranges from 2 to 3 hours depending on the time of year. Confirm the exact end time with your tour guide before the tour.

Scottsdale Adventure Tours is a special recreation permit-holder through the U.S. Department of Agriculture: Cave Creek Ranger District.

This is a guide-led tour; guests will NOT be driving the Jeep.

From November to February, bring a coat or jacket. The temperature will drop ~20 degrees after sunset.

Our bumpy off-road Jeep tours are low-speed, jarring rides through rough terrain. Please ensure that every guest in your party understands that this off-road tour is a low-speed, bumpy ride through rough terrain.

Please carefully review our list of health restrictions and requirements. Due to safety concerns, we are unable to accommodate guests who do not meet the tour requirements.

Pregnant individuals are prohibited from participating in this high risk activity.

No Neck Problems.

Not recommended for passengers who get motion sickness.

Weight limit per seat: 275 pounds. Please contact our office at least 24 hours before the tour to make special arrangements.

Must be physically able to climb a step ladder to enter the lifted Jeeps.

Not recommended for passengers with any condition that could be aggravated by a rough, bumpy, and jarring off-road Jeep tour.

Just a spectacular experience! Our guide Ed was wonderful and was a wealth of information! Ed did a great job to keep the ride safe and kept the level for those not used to off roading safe and fun! The sunset 🌅 was just spectacular and the colors ever changing. Thanks so much for a wonderful time !

Caz was our fabulous driver and guide! We had so much fun and saw the great beauty of the desert at sunset. Caz knew everything about all the wildlife and plants and even made us some Prickly Pear gum drops. She is THE BEST and the Jeep tour will forever be a memory.

Was a fun trip..Marko was wonderful, knowledgeable and fun..5 stars for him…rear seat was cramped…a 20 minute ride to the park was a bit much…Wished we could have gotten to the plateau before the sun actually set..

Our driver, nicknamed Killer by Arlo Guthrie, who she used to drive for, was excellent. Our tour was informational and entertaining. Her knowledge of the landscape and history of the area was fascinating.

Wonderful experience. Fun and interesting. We went with a large group in 3 vehicles and all 3 guides were fun and knowledgeable. The sunset and moonrise was gorgeous. I would highly recommend it.

What an amazing tour! I can’t recommend the sunset Jeep tour enough. What an incredible experience seeing the desert at sunset. We left with amazing pictures and memories. Thanks to David for being a wonderful tour guide and taking some awesome pictures of us. Booking this tour again the next time I’m in town.

Our jeep tour through the desert was absolutely incredible! Jay was an outstanding tour guide — extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about what he does. He shared so many interesting facts about the landscape, wildlife, and history of the area, all while making the experience fun and engaging. His driving skills made us feel safe and comfortable the entire time, even on the rougher terrain. You can tell Jay truly loves what he does, and that enthusiasm made the tour unforgettable. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide or a better experience. Highly recommend this tour — and definitely ask for Jay!
