The city is the closest area to Mount Ijen. If you come from the west (Surabaya/Jakarta/Yogyakarta) it will be good to stay at Bondowoso. But if you’re from Bali the best way come from Banyuwangi. Many new accommodations near there, so it will make it easy to stay here before heading to Mount Ijen.

The Mount Ijen Midnight Tour was an incredible experience from start to finish. The highlight was definitely witnessing the mesmerizing blue flames and the stunning sunrise from the crater. Our guide, Sam, was knowledgeable, friendly, and ensured we were well-prepared for the hike. He provided fascinating insights about the volcanic activity and the sulfur miners. The overall experience was challenging but absolutely worth it! Tip: Dress warmly and wear good hiking shoes for the steep climb. Highly recommended for adventurous travelers!
