Castelmola Sicily is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, at 550 meters above sea level. We will wind up in its panoramic square, where we will be surprised by the view, on one side, of Mount Etna- the highest active volcano in Europe. We stop also at local cafès to taste the typical sweet almond wine.
Our day tour continues with a Taormina tour, to visit the most popular tourist destination of Sicily, which was recently made if possible even more famous by the second season of White Lotus Sicily.

5.00Taormina is a absolutely beautiful city high up in the mountains of Sicily. Castelmola is s small and ancient town with a small population very high up in the mountains. If you don't like winding roads that look straight down, this is not for you. If you don't mind heights, don't miss this tour. It is one of the best tours we took in Italy. If you are in Messina for a short time, this is the tour you need to take - nothing much in Messina itself - you'd be a fool to miss this once in a lifetime experience.

5.00Great tour! location meeting place was easy to find. We did this excursion from a cruise ship and never were afraid of missing the ship. Sara the tour guide was wonderful. We had sufficient time to do everything we wanted in both castlemoria and Taormina. Bus driver was very professional.
This drive is not for the faint hearted!

5.00This was a fantastic tour that took us up a winding mountain road to a small village in Castelmola where the views were stunning and we were even treated to unbelievable views of Mt. Etna, still smoldering, from many angles. After stopping at some little shops in Castelmola we wound our way down to Taormina and were taken to the main thoroughfare there called Courso Umberto that was lined with many small shops and cafes and boutiques, a shoppers paradise!! It was such a pleasant experience I’m glad we opted to take this tour!

5.00Sicily is large and you can't see it all in one day, so this was a great way to see some good spots. We had a nice view of Mt. Aetna (a few days before the big eruption!) and well as to tour two towns and walk around. She gave us a sample cookie with ingredients from the area and gave us good suggestions of what to eat there and what to wait for Naples, our next day, to eat (pizza.) Her recommendations for Canaloni and gelato etc. were helpful. Our guide was easy to follow, informative, respectful of our needs. Mariarita was our guide. We enjoyed the day. We got back a bit later than advertised but we had plenty of time in port and could've gone into the town there before going back to the ship if we'd wanted. It was a good experience.

5.00Our cruise ship cancelled our excursion about a month before we set sail due to no large buses going to Taormina. Based on other reviews, I booked our tour to Taormina & Castelmola with Discover Messina. When getting off our ship, they had plenty of representatives to assist, very well organized & timely. Our guide Sabrina was amazing and spoke great English. She was a walking wealth of information about Sicily. Our driver, Leo, did an incredible job driving us up to the top of Castelmola on the narrow roads. This was a great excursion to see the best of Sicily when in port for only one day. The views were incredible. I am always a little nervous when booking an excursion outside of the ship due to not returning in time. However, they were very time sensitive making sure we would return to the ship with plenty of time to spare. I would highly recommend this tour - they were awesome!
